    Melbourne zoo

    April 11 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

It was quite nice, actually! Lots of animals. Some highlight enclosures like the open ring-tailed lemur enclosure and butterfly pavilion with soooo many butterflies. Also good to see they grow their own plants and sell their compost (2000kg a day!).

However their theming did fall off a bit after the first two areas. For the price though, well worth the visit.

    Markets and randoms

    April 9 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Tried to get jeans today but was too fat and everything was high-waisted :( Queen Victoria Markets were like more organised Paddy's. Got a pretty good bratwurst from it.

Ah tried Lune Croissanterie in the morning, the prune croissant and chocolate croissant. Rather disappointing and somewhat pricy.

Indian at Flora's for dinner, had some abominable wholemeal roti. Curries were ok, but think I still prefer Mathura.

    Great Ocean Road tour

    April 8 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 14 °C

15k steps today. Early start at 6am, long day but basically lots of driving in a bus with uncle Jack from Malaysia but he came over 30 years ago. Danny didn't put cable into my bag so I started the day with 50% . Got two extra stops- Apollo bay which I didn't care much for, another beach, and Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery, where we grabbed and ogled some beautiful chocolates.

Never knew there was such beautiful scenery around, and also sad to learn about the history behind the construction of the Road. However the resulting road is a beautiful if winding drive.

Easy to book on Klook and get confirmation. Meetup was also easy. However some stops were a bit meh, which is not the fault of the tour guide, more itinerary planning. Kennett River was somewhat disappointing. Colac and Lorne beach unmemorable. However highlights of tour - Twelve Apostles and Loch Are Gorge - were amazing.

I learnt from today that where there is a beach, Aussies will flock to and someone will make a caravan park there lol.

    First day

    April 7 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Walked so much today. Over 23k steps today. Part of Melbourne CBD's circle tram line is blocked for trackwork for two weeks. So it's no longer a circle, it's just a broken circle. D: honestly why they did it during the comedy festival, I do not know. At least the line was still operational between the festival location (town hall) and our hotel!

Tried to go to Fuumi Fuumi. Arrived 15 mins before closing and all they had was one slice of Basque cheesecake left lol. Should have remembered it is a bakery after all. At $16 a katsu sando and "maybe sometimes we make fruits sando" I probably wouldn't return, it's too out of the way

Tried to go to Cashmere cat cafe to relax after since Melbourne cat cafe was already closed at 4pm. Unfortunately it was $19 per person for an hour and no drink unless you book online, and only water or canned coke if you do. That is just too much to pay for me.

Found a Japanese crepe place, was so good, reminded me of Japan. Had dinner at Don Don, curry was super good, bento was ok but overall exceedingly cheap for the price. We couldn't finish the rice, and while we were eating we could hear various new customers ordering with extra rice...ahh, youth and metabolism.

Capped the night off with comedy from Ivan Aristeguieta, it's was a perfect hour, so hilarious. First comedy show I've been to and he's so funny but also positive at the same time, which I love. His accents are so good as well. A little more profane than I expected but that was mainly the Aussie parts and wouldn't be accurate without, lol.

Didn't realise Danny doesn't know how to spell diarrhea... Also can't believe that's his favourite joke lol. Mine was the Willy joke.
(His girlfriend, joking through text) "How do I get in the apartment if the floor is lava?"
"Don't worry, when you open the door, the floor will become hard, just like my willy...willies are family-friendly!.. Whereas my ex-wife hated when I joked about intimate stuff. When she's cooking or something I'd stand behind her and like wheewheewhee it says yes, it says no... And she'll look at it like a vegan looks at bacon. -pause- Disgusted, but she knows it's delicious."

Sorry if I paraphrase anything, imperfect memory! Either way it was hilarious. Tall puppies, get chihuahuas!

    Banmian lunch @jojo little kitchen

    April 7 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

Wonderful banmian, best I've had outside of Singapore. Just a tad on the sweet side but still very satisfying. Danny added chili to the noodles. :( Or I would be able to taste them better. Wasn't very hungry so ordered dry... But with torn noodles lol bit of a mistake. Still nice though.Read more

    Tokyo airport

    March 13, 2020 in Japan ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

ANA operates its own shuttle bus to the international terminal for transfers, and you need the little voucher they give you for it, plus it's a distance away and down some stairs. I wonder why?! So they speshul?? I mean there's the other airport shuttle that's free anyway. Oh well.

Flight was so crowded! 3 4 3 aircraft and lots of salarymen traveling for work I think. We thought it was some mistake when all the 4 seats had the sides occupied on seat selection but they really were filled by single travelers. About an hour and no entertainment, also no food or drink service since short flight. ANA feels more drab than Korean Air in terms of stewardess uniforms. All turns out to feel rather no frills lol.

Connecting flight is in a few hours.
