Northern Ireland and Ireland

I got in so late last night that it was technically this morning. Does that count as an overnight? 🤔 (ETA: No, it does not.)

Things we learned yesterday:
1. Google maps still doesn't know what it's doing when it comes to roundabouts.
2. Sometimes it doesn't even know the names of the roads leaving the roundabout, which makes it fun picking the right one at speed.
3. There *are* rules surrounding roundabouts in Ireland and the UK.
4. I don't know what they are. And I suspect they're not written down anywhere. And they might be different between the two countries.
5. If Wanderlog finds an email with a reservation, it will not find it when the site responds shortly thereafter to tell you that, actually, there isn't any room.
6. I will not recognize that this happens, either.
7. This may or may not result in an extra five hours of driving time when you leave the area of your actual reservation to drive to your non-existent reservation and then have to drive back again.
8. More driving time only makes me *slightly* better at roundabouts.
9. If you arrive at your caravan park after midnight, you may discover that there is a gate which requires a code. Which you have not been given.
10. Sometimes Google will tell you there is a roundabout when they mean a turn with a circle painted in the middle of the road.
11. Sometimes Google will tell you to go straight when they mean you should turn left.
12. If you listen to Google instead of looking at the map (silly driver! didn't you know there's a screen you could be staring at?) it will get thoroughly confused and you will end up at a bus station.
13. Google does not do well with private access roads in the UK. It may also tell you the only exit from a parking lot is said dead and private access road.
14. People in Ireland do not steal gas for their vehicles. Bad Americans!
15. If you forget to pay for your gas because you're used to paying at the pump, you have to go back through the line and thoroughly confuse the poor kid not used to stupid Americans.

I'm sure I'm missing some things... A much better day on the whole, though!Les mer
