Scotland 2024

The pouring rain today required some last minute changes to our plans. We decided to skip the scenic drive north along Loch Ness and drove directly to the Culloden battlefield near Inverness. The very interesting history center commemorates the last major battle (1746) of the Jacobite uprising.

From there we headed north on the A9 (we will spend a lot of time on the A9) to the peninsula between the Moray Firth and Dornach Firth for a 2 night stay at Tarrel Farmhouse. This was a very comfortable boutique hotel in a late 1700’s farmhouse with beautiful views of the firth and newly mown fields of barley all around us. Our hosts, Hannah and Elysia, even introduced us to their pet Kunekune pigs!

Everywhere around us are the beautiful golden fields of freshly mown barley. The grain is used for Scotch whiskey.
Dinner was in the small town of Tain at Project 1864 (an old train depot).Baca lagi
