      Bin mit dem Zug für einen Tag nach Venedig gefahren. Die Stadt hat mich sehr beeindruckt. Schöne alte Gebäude, enge Gassen. Die Kanäle, großen Kirchen, alte Paläste und große und kleine Plätze. Zum Teil sehr schön, oder auch etwas morbide. Viele Touristen, aber zum Glück gerade kein Kreuzfahrtschiff dort.
      Ging vom Bahnhof S. Lucia über die Rialto Brücke durch die Viertel zum Marcusplatz und weiter. Dann mit dem Wasserbus zurück. Viele Restaurants und Geschäfte für Touristen, Masken, Glaskunst, Andenken usw.      Read more

      Exploring venice

      Today I was a proper tourist wandering round taking hundreds of photos and buying too many things that say venice.
      I went to s. Maria and St Marks Square as well as many different places in between. Even lit two candles for Grandpa and Emma!!
      Today was the start of the carnival which happens every year for just short of a month and there was a parade in the main canal and there was all sorts of people in costumes and masks. I thought I would join in so brought a mask to !!!

      La Piazza San Marco

      On ne voulait pas courir tout de suite à la Piazza San Marco... on voulait d'abord apprécier le reste de la ville avant de découvrir cette place mythique.
      On aurait surtout bien aimé voir l'acqua alta : le moment où la marée monte suffisamment pour inonder la place en remontant par les bouches prévues pour ce phénomène. Mais on savait que des travaux titanesques avaient été réalisés dans la lagune pour limiter les acqua alta et les dégradations qu'elles provoquent sur la ville. Alors on ne se faisait pas trop d'illusion, il n'était plus possible de voir la place inondée !
      Pourtant, on regarde quand même les marées et on se pointe juste avant qu'elle soit au plus haut...
      ... et bingo !!!! La place était encore en train de se remplir et on pouvait voir l'eau avancer et nous entourer petit à petit ! (travaux peu efficaces !!)
      On est bien restés 2h à regarder le phénomène, abasourdis par la "technologie" que les vénitiens ont su mettre en oeuvre pour vivre avec la Lagune de la façon la plus équilibrée possible.
      Des bâtiments extrêmement massifs sont construits sur cette place : des bâtiments avec plus de 200 colonnades, une basilique imposante, un palais richement décoré, un campanile de pratiquement 100m de haut et une esplanade pavée de marbre ... et malgré cela ils ont compris que s'ils ne laissaient pas la nature prendre sa place de temps en temps. .. leurs constructions ne résisteraient pas ! Alors ils ont fait en sorte que la marée vienne et raparte sans faire de dégât ! (on ne sait pas encore bien comment c'est fait la dessous, il va falloir qu'on se renseigne mieux)
      Par contre, ils ne pouvaient pas imaginer, que la montée du niveau de ma mer risquait de faire monter encore plus haut la lagune, et ainsi détruire malgré tout Venise. Quel manque d'anticipation. ..      Read more

      Venedig - Markusplatz, Seufzerbrücke uvm

      Ab in den Süden, der Sonne hinterher….
      Ab Bayern sind die Aussichten überall herbstlich mau, aber Venedig scheint greifbar, und mit 22 Grad und Sonne klingt es nach einer guten Option.
      Also über den Brenner… mit 1,5h Stau.
      Aber wir machen einen Stopp, üben weiter das Laufen, schauen uns die Berge an und stellen uns auf einen Rastplatz, auf dem alle Welt zu Gast ist.
      Kalt war die Nacht im Gebirge, Standheizung sei Dank nicht schlimm.
      Ein Pärchen reißt sich im Dunkeln die Seite des Wohnwagens auf, weil ein polnischer Transporter in den Weg ragt.
      Am Folgetag quälen wir uns fast 4 Stunden bis zum Campingplatz in der Bucht gegenüber Venedig. Schnell aufgebaut, der warme Urlaub kann beginnen. Die Nächte sind frisch, aber ab Mittags ist es herrlich sonnig und warm, während es in Deutschland und Co mindestens 5 Grad kälter ist.
      Sa und So bleiben wir auf dem Platz, Montag erkunden wir die Gegend mit dem Fahrrad und Thilda im Anhänger. Über 3 Stunden bleiben wir am Strand, Papa buddelt geheime Löcher und fängt Krebse, Mama tritt in die Geheimfallen und versinkt im Sand und Thilda spielt im Sand, lutscht Muscheln und erfreut sich an Kindern und Hunden.
      Ein toller Tag!
      Dienstag wird ein Ausflug nach Venedig gemacht, auch Burano mit seinen bunten Häusern wird unser Ziel. Mittwoch gehts weiter, aber Mittwoch ist erst morgen…      Read more

      Venedig- Murano - Burano

      Jaja - Venedig ist ein doppelter Beitrag 🙄

      Pfui ist es kalt!
      Wir wollen noch nicht nach Hause!
      Wo ist es schön?
      Italien!
      Also ab nach Punta Sabbioni, in der venezianischen Lagunenlandschaft gelegen, auf einen netten Campingplatz (voller fieser Mücken) und netten Nachbarn… die beiden Sardinierdeutschen, bei denen Thilda Tina heißt und Hauke Christoph; dem Österreicher, der seit 2008 jedes Jahr dorthin kommt und der jeden anspricht, ob man will oder nicht 😁

      Wir machen 3 Ausflüge, besuchen Venedig, Murano und Burano.
      Burano, wunderschön mit seinen wenigen Besuchern und seinen bunten Häusern.
      Murano mit Glaskunst aller Art, manchmal hübsch, manchmal fragwürdig .
      Toll sind die „Luftballons“ aus Glas.
      Venedig mit weniger Einwohnern als Besuchern, tollen alten Gebäuden und Gassen zum Verlaufen.
      Auf dem Markusplatz läuft Thilda ihre Runden, wird von allen geliebt und bewundert.      Read more

      Jour 8 - Piazza San Marco

      Aujourd'hui nous en avons profité pour littéralement aller se perdre dans les rues de Venise. Nous avons tout d'abord commencer avec un petit déjeuner dans un charmant petit restaurent et en avons profité pour essayer plusieurs différentes choses.

      Une fois bien remplis, nous nous sommes dirigés vers la Piazza San Marco où nous avons pu admirer la basilique St-Marc ainsi que ses bâtiments adjacents. Cette piazza (place) est surement la plus impressionnante que nous avons pu visiter depuis que nous sommes en Italie.

      En début d'après-midi, nous avons décidé de se ramasser quelque chose et aller manger à l'appartement pour se reposer un peu et faire du lavage. Et oui, ici est le seul endroit de notre séjour où nous avons accès à notre propre machine à laver. Nadia a pu réaliser son rêve en faisant sécher nos vêtements à la façon Vénitienne soit sur une corde à linge sous les fenêtres extérieures.

      En fin d'après-midi, c'était l'heure de l'apéro. Ici, littéralement tout le monde boit le même breuvage en apéro, soit le Spritz, un mélange d'aparole, de prosseco et de club soda. Le résultat est un cocktail orangé servi sur glace et très rafraichissant. Nous rapportons la recette au Canada!

      Finalement, c'était rendu l'heure d'aller souper! Nous sommes tombés sur un petit restaurent avec une petite terrasse au fond d'une ruelle. Une belle fin de journée!

      A city like no other

      Let us start this post by simply stating that Venice is incredible. We had an amazing time here and can only wish that we had more than a day to spend in the city (not that we really have the budget for that). The physical landscape (canals, taxi boats etc.) is well known, but until you actually see it, it's hard to fathom a city built entirely on water. Even Amsterdam, another city with a network of canals, has streets with cars, parallel parking and bike paths. Venice is simply boats and narrow alleys, piazzas, and canals small and large.

      Just wandering around the city felt like going back in time, with small shops that dated back hundreds of years. Venice historically was a wealthy, intellectually advanced society built on trade with both the east and west, and the architecture and artistic choices of the city reflect this. It was clear that despite the oligarchic rule of the city, the populace was well-supported and public services were valued. Touring the former residencies and state palaces in the Museo Correr and Palazzo Ducale was a clear reminder of this, as the immense frescoes covering the walls and gold-gilted ceilings made it clear they valued public service.

      We spent a whirlwind day in the city, also touring the mammoth Saint Mark's cathedral, dining at a classic street café, ate gelato beside a small canal and took more pictures than we have in weeks. We would have loved to have more time, but at least we know we'll definitely be back :)      Read more
