Alfama, Lisbon

Wandering around the streets of Alfama, Lisbon today, listening to the strings of some guitar in the background and being immersed in what was, I felt something new as a human, a feeling I hadn't experienced before. It was a combination of being both Awestruck and yet somehow Humbled at the same time. It brought me into the present moment and I was home.

It was a day filled with emotion. A feeling so strong it brought tears with it.

Later, I walked around Castelo de Sao Jorge.
Sitting high above Lisbon, it was occupied by the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, and Moors, before its conquest by the Portuguese in the 1147.

And then for a brief moment, I was the king, and that was enough.
