Tangier, Morocco

Tangier was a wonderful surprise as we close out our journey around Africa. We enjoyed a great private tour of the area. Our guide took us to the northern most cape, great scenic overlooks and the Medina inside the city walls. Tangier originally had many quarters with 9 European countries occupying the city at the same time. This gateway to the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea has been of great strategic importance for hundreds of years. The coast of Spain is across the water and can be seen in the background of our photographs. The city has a wonderful mixture of architecture and cultures.
