High!!!! Winds for many km’s coming into Dargaville. Flat land around really let’s the wind flow. We crossed the large river - wairoa river - very brown.
Tane Mahuta - Lord of the forest

This tree is a very large and old Kauri tree - estimated 2000 yrs. There is concern about the trees being affected by nasties so there is shoe washing on the way in and on the way out.

AirBnB for 2 nights. It’s on the ‘Bay of Islands’ .. Out for dinner at “Jimmy Jacks”. We all had seafood chowder.

Caught the ferry at Opua to get to the old Russell road. A lovely ride down the old Russell road… wonderful views of bays and harbours and islands and coastline. Really twisty. ….bit of highwayもっと詳しく

Mostly fine, a little sun between the clouds. Heading into town to have a look around. There was a Santa parade and I caught a glimpse of a penguin marching band!
