High!!!! Winds for many km’s coming into Dargaville. Flat land around really let’s the wind flow. We crossed the large river - wairoa river - very brown.
Tane Mahuta - Lord of the forest

This tree is a very large and old Kauri tree - estimated 2000 yrs. There is concern about the trees being affected by nasties so there is shoe washing on the way in and on the way out.

AirBnB for 2 nights. It’s on the ‘Bay of Islands’ .. Out for dinner at “Jimmy Jacks”. We all had seafood chowder.

Caught the ferry at Opua to get to the old Russell road. A lovely ride down the old Russell road… wonderful views of bays and harbours and islands and coastline. Really twisty. ….bit of highway Czytaj więcej

Here we are back at the beginning. After 3013.1 km’s of terrific riding through wonderful countryside we have reached the end of the road.

Mostly fine, a little sun between the clouds. Heading into town to have a look around. There was a Santa parade and I caught a glimpse of a penguin marching band!
