🌜Uncle Johnny’s Hostel

The storm we hoped would arrive overnight eventually did right at dawn. The downpour tapered quickly and I still made it out of the shelter relatively early. Had plans with fellow hikers Trickshot and Little Foot to hoof it out of the hills into Erwin TN-and we kept a good pace. 17 miles by 2:30pm. That includes a lunch break at No Business Knob Shelter and a pause for trail magic (someone left us cold drinks on the trail!!) The rain was constant and intensifying as the day progressed- essentially we arrived at Erwin completely soaked- luckily temps were not too bad so just wet, not freezing. We got bunks at a hostel at the edge of town near the trail and enjoyed hot showers before catching a shuttle into town for dinner.

We actually missed the shuttle back but some super nice local lady named Leetha saw us in the supermarket and offered us a ride to our hostel. People have been so fantastic to us!

This hostel was completely rebuilt since last fall when everything was destroyed by Hurricane Helene we are grateful to be here.
