🌜Primitive Camping Near AT 405.2

Amazing day of hiking over “the humps” both Little Hump (5445 ft elevation) and Big Hump (5559 ft) were bald grassy knolls. Although there were clouds and wind it was much more calm and visibility was fairly decent.

Around lunch time we arrived at a highway, discovered some trail magic (cold drinks) and walked up the hill to the Appalachian Station for lunch. They cater big time to the hiker community and also have a hostel on site in addition to the pub. We were planning to bounce after lunch, which we essentially did… but first a resupply in the pantry there, which was well stocked.

We also hit Mile 400 today!

My big highlight- I was captivated by Jones Fall and split off from the group to marvel, splash, and relax before cranking out 4 additional miles to meet up at a campsite on trail. Soothing sounds of a babbling stream will cradle me until the morning 😴💤
