Tough night at the Gite. Full of a school group. Our room was really hot so fractured sleep. Nice to be heading to a quiet tent tonight.

Stopped for coffee at midday. Up to an amazing castle this morning but too crowded for us so didn't go in.
Another 8km to go to hopefully find somewhere to camp. hot afternoon

5.30pm. Stopped for some groceries. beautiful little village. Da would love painting this. 4 castles today and now heading into the hills to find a campsite. But not before a beer

Waiting for pop up shop to open hopefully. last resupply option for 75km. Hopefully we can find a couple of restaurants along the way. otherwise it will be an excellent weight loss programme.

been a steady gain all morning. sitting just under 1200m.
Morning of reflection. lots of war remains , graves and cemeteries. Such a tragic waste.

The hills get bigger

Had a good afternoon although long. 1200m climbs today with 500m descents.
Really got into some bigger country. Things also got a bit more technical but ok. the track was an engineering feat.

Had a muck around morning. we have been following the gr5 markers and didn't realise the official route went a different way.
Then we got seperated and took some time to sort. ended ok which was the main thing. just stopped for a lunch and managed to buy some cheese and a bagette.
Water been better.... just need to get food sorted now. Will just push later tonight. Very got so stopped for a siesta.Read more

Pretty good day in the end. not the km we wanted but ok.
Very jot afternoon with no shade. had siesta until 3.30 and then walked until 7.
Nice camp with a fountain that Alan made us of. Alberge still open down the road so had omlette and beer🥳

Well we made close to 31km today. was 37 when we arrived in Thann.
left at 5.30am so we benefited from the lower temperatures whilst out in the open.
minor hiccup with no water at lunch stop but resolved ok.
Lots of ski lifts today. Some poma or T bars going straight over a road. Assume it is closed in winter.
Had break at a radar station. Almost star wars material.Read more

In Thann tonight. Pretty town but quiet on a Monday.
Went past major war cemetery today. tragic to see the numbers from both sides who died.

Some developments today. Maree and I have decided to skip the next 60km. We have a deadline of Lake Geneva by the 10th and feel the km required per day might take it's toll with such a long way to go.
Alan keen to complete the thru walk so has headed off. He will punch in some bigger days and catch us in a week or so.Read more

Traveleryes hard to know best thing to do. fully get the walking the whole way. But with time pressures it also doesn't allow time to see the villages and have decent stops. guess we will wotk out a happy medium

two trains from Thann to Belfort. A guy gave us a lift out of town to avoid the road.
It was pretty flat walking today, so it an easy change. Met 3 hexatrekers today, so doubled our number. This evening we met a nice Belgian girl who is camping with us. great spot with access to a stream for washing. Just in a paddock so hopefully gone before owner up tomorrow.
Alan also had a good day. looks like he did some big km so will catch us pretty quickly.

Started walking at 6. No real stops until St Hippolyte at midday where we had menu du jour for 18 euro. Salad, beef and fries. lovely town with river running through.
Probably only 8 odd km this afternoon as we enter a zone where we can't camp unless we do 22km.

Camping again

Had hoped to camp by a river but looked like it was a reserve unfortunately.
Walked another 4km. Camped in a field with cows next door. hopefully gate isn't open.
Also nervous about ticks and lyme disease.
Photo is of cascade de Tuf. Supposed to be a highlight. Got nothing on Rere falls😀
Change up tonight. No bagettes so having buns and pate. Bit concerned about resupply for next couple of days but no doubt will work.
And purple bridge.
No word yet from Alan so assume he is still walking.Read more

Retty good day. Long climb this morning but a nice walk along the river this afternoon.
Walked over the border to Switzerland to buy a beer. French said we were made as it would be more. And it wasn't cold enough.
Maybe 32km tomorrow. We will see how we go. Have enough food in case. Alan at our campsite 2 nights ago so nipping at our heels.Read more

Wet night and morning wth thunderstorm. Not walking until 7.45 so will mean an extra night in the gorge. Very pretty. Hoping for some sun to dry the tent.

Currently at campground in Brenets. Raining again unfortunately. Nice camp and walk out.
Had absinthe at cafe on the way, hence the photo. Pretty good.
By tonight Alan will be a day behind. Will either wait or go slowly for him to catch as he doesn't currently have his cooker.
Heading further into Switzerland where will follow a high ridge with good views so hopefully some better photo opportunities.
One photos is of steps following up beside rails to power station. Would hate to do them.
