Ambiance 10 - food 5 (chicken vol au vent with a salad) I don’t think I’ve ever had a salad that I didn’t like until now 🤣

Great place with daily life music in the bar/restaurant area, and a big sports bar in the back

Fun day walking the city. Both, Christ Church (featured in a Harry Potter movie) and St. Patrick’s Cathedral are both worth visiting.
It was a beautiful warm day so I spent some time in St. Stephen’s Green, a beautiful park not far from temple bar, named after Dad, of course. Walked through Temple Bar, other cute and busy alleys and shopping places, and crossed over Ha’Penny bridge.

Kinsale on the Wild Atlantic Route

Left Dublin at 8:30am, and just getting to the Blindgate house, a lovely B&B for our 1st overnight at 5:30pm. Very narrow street coming up a steep hill to the house and our bus got stuck in a gully and with some local help was eventually able to move again, after we all got out and pulled out luggage’s up the hill. Right now I’ve had 4 people trying to fix the light in my bathroom. How many people does it take to fix a lightbulb??? 😂
Kingsale looks like a great town, will be heading out for a walk along the waterfront shortly, and then I’m meeting everyone in town for dinner at 7:30.

Highlights today were Cahir Castle, one of Irelands largest castles and a group of us were rebells, intent on exploring all the different sections, arriving late at the bus. It was worth it!
We did however, reluctantly, spend only 15 minutes at the heritage site of Charles Fort. It’s definitely worth spending more time there.

PS: just got back from having a great fish and chips dinner at the Blue Haven Hotel. Then back up the steep hill - I’m so ready to get some sleep 😴. Breakfast at 7:30!Read more

Blarney, Ring of Kerry and Killarney

Arrived around 6PM at the Abbey Lodge in Killarney
Fabulous day! Early drive to Blarney Castle to kiss the Blarney Stone - or not 😀
The Castle gardens are absolutely beautiful and well maintained, you could easily spend a couple hours exploring.

The drive through the Ring of Kerry was stunning and we made a few stops along the way, including Ladies view. Then we drove through Killarney National Park. Stopped to see the Torc Waterfall and the 1000-year old tree growing in the middle of the Muckross Abbey - a ruin at this time.

Arrived at Brasnan’s Dingle!

Nice walk to Ross Castle this morning, coffee and pastry in town, then getting in the bus again to go to a sheep farm. Group dinner in Town - great relaxing day.

Dingle Day 2

This morning we took a great drive along the curvy Slea Head drive along the Atlantic Ocean. Our driver, Kiernan, is so patient driving our big bus on these narrow roads around here.

Back at the hotel I went for a long walk to the lighthouse, crossing cow and sheep pastures - they didn’t care 😀. Coming back I ran into one of my groups and we went for Irish coffee which was very nice as it started getting a little drizzly.

Tonight we’re going to a local Irish music show at one of the churches. Of course they have music in every bar every night but this should be good.Read more

8:15pm - Arrived at the Adare guest house hungry and tired.
It turns out that Galway is a very busy city, especially on Saturday night. The driver told us we probably needed reservations- well thank you for not telling us earlier 🤔 - ended up eating in a take out fast food burger/pizza place - lol!

Today was Cliffs of Moher, so exciting! Unfortunately the weather was drizzly, cold and overcast, so no nice pics. But it was still great to be there. Hordes of people….

Then on to the Island of Inisheer, one of the 3 Aran Islands.

On the way to Galway we made a stop to walk on the lunar-like landscape of the Burren. Amazing!!!Read more

Connemara and Kylemore Abbey! Loved the Connemara region, beautiful landscape and Irelands only Fiord. Unfortunately we had to bypass some of the scenic route due to an accident. The Abbey was also worth visiting, although you’ll only see the first floor. They are planning to open up more of the castle. The gardens are beautiful.Read more

Leisurely breakfast with a late departure back to Dublin and a 3 night stay at the Hard Rock Hotel in Temple Bar. After being with a group of people for a week, I will be exploring on my own. I was worried about taking a tour but it was definitely a great experience.

Along the way we only made one sightseeing stop at Clonmacnoise, the most famous monastic sites in Ireland.Read more
