• PEI west coast

    24 Jun 2022, Gulf of Saint Lawrence ⋅ 🌧 15 °C

It was the only really rainy day but we managed to get out to the west coast. First stop was the potato museum. It was actually very informative, with a history of the potato brought to the old world by the Spanish.

We then headed for the West Point where we saw the light house. Unlike some other lighthouses, this was was manned by 2 people over a period of more than 60 years. The two men manning the lighthouse also ran farms and had families living with them. They lived a few kilometres from the light house and tended to it during the late hours while farming during the day.

We then drove around a bit and saw this one park (Green provincial park) with many campers. It looked quite comfortable and well set up.

We then ended the day with dinner at the Pear Valley Oyster restaurant. They are actually a wholesaler that sell to many restaurants (Joe Beef included). Food was great and prices amazing.
