  • Keltic lodge

    June 28, 2022 in Canada ⋅ 🌧 19 °C

The keltic lodge looked like it could have a lot of potential. However, we did have a very poor experience here. The rooms were part of a shared unit. I would say about 2/3 of the space was shared with the room being very small and the AC not working. We barely had enough space to put our luggage. All the while the huge shared space was not usable. Thank god we only stayed one night. We had booked the restaurant because we were told (by the hotel) that bookings were required due to how busy the restaurant was. In the end it wasn’t that busy, the prices were exorbitant, the service was very poor, and the food ok. They were asking a ridiculous price for the soup and when the little bowl came Lorette returned hers because it was highway robbery. I had mine but in the end they didn’t charge us for either soups. Most people ate at the smaller resto next door and probably had better service and not as expensive.Read more

  • Halifax, Lunenberg, Peggy’s Cove

    June 29, 2022 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

Halifax was a beautiful city. When we first arrived we went to the Pier 21 where we saw the wall of immigrants that came (including Rosangela’s grandfather. It was very nice to see this.
We then walked around in the port area of Halifax. The weather at this time of the year was a little chilly but still very nice. The first night we ate at McKelvies where we had an excellent dinner with lots of seafood and coconut rice.

The next day we went to Lunenberg. It was a cute little place: we ate outside on a terrasse where we had oysters and tacos under a parasol. We saw the blue nose taking off. But aside from that there wasn’t much else to do so we went to Peggy’s cove.

Peggy’s Cove was breathtaking. It just looks like a lighthouse but as you get closer you see that it sits on rocks that lead to the ocean. We carefully walked our way to the ocean for some beautiful views.

The next day we ate at the Bicycle restaurant where we had mussels and more seafood! It was very nice. As a snack earlier in the day we ate some sushi at the Fire-something restaurant where you sit around a fire pit (well fire table I guess).

  • La Malbaie QC, Louisville QC

    June 30, 2022 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

So we ended up the vacation with a one night stay at La Malbaie. Crossing over with the ferry at Rivière du loup would save us a good 3 hours of driving. We had the option for the 4 pm or 6 pm ferry but left a little late for 4 pm so we had speed up some. Fortunately we made it on time for the 4 pm ferry so we got to La Malbaie at a reasonable time.

Before dinner we went to the outdoor Spa where we relaxed and enjoyed the rest of the evening. After this, since we were fed of seafood LOL, we decided to pick up a pizza from Mike’s and a bottle of Prosecco and ate on our balcony as the view was beautiful with the hotel set up on a falaise.

The next day we took our time, got up, loaded the car and drove to Louisville to see Lorette’s friend Suzie. We had a nice dinner with Susie and Gabriel and then came home to end the vacation.
