    and we’re off!

    April 8 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

On 8 April 2024 we set off for a two week trip to Kangaroo Island while the weather forecast was looking favourable.

Kangaroo Island sits off the coast of South Australia and is Australia's third-largest Island. At 155 kilometres long and up to 55 kilometres wide, it covers an area of 4,416 square kilometres. The population is approximately 4,500.

In December 2019 through to February 2020 bushfires ripped through almost half of the island, decimating infrastructure, wildlife and terrain.

We will be interested to see how the island has recovered from these fires.

Kangaroo Island has 1,600kms of roads, the majority of the main roads are sealed, principally those linking Penneshaw, American River, Kingscote, Parndana and Flinders Chase National Park. However, most of the island’s roads are not sealed, and many are very corrugated.
