Minlaton was once known as the barley capital of the world, it is also famous for one of its past residents, Captain Harry Butler, a flying ace during WW1. His monoplane, the Red Devil, is on display and is the only one left in the world.
In 1916 he became a Fighting Instructor in Scotland and Chief Fighting Instructor in the RFC North Yorkshire and trained over 2,700 pilots.
Butler established the first airport and the first passenger flight business in South Australia.Read more
