    Day 1

    May 15 in Hungary ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

It’s been an eventful day so far. I got stopped at security because my coat was covering my portable charger in the tray - if they didn’t have powers of arrest I’d have responded with some sort of cheeky retort about the ineffectiveness of their X-rays. David then shot off to board the plane speedily as was his priority boarding privilege. He claims he was the first one on the plane - I’m happier being last.

We’ve arrived at the lovely Airbnb, dropped our bags and headed out for lunch at the For Sale Pub which was v atmospheric with thousands of notes on the wall from fellow visitors. We had schnitzel & goulash to be traditional!

A quick stop by the Central Market Hall (to be revisited in more detail - we need to research what all the pastry words are to pick out our favourites) and a few hours in the national history museum passed the rest of the afternoon. We’re now back having a quick rest before our Danube cruise this evening.

V striking how cosmopolitan Budapest is. Loving it so far.
