    We continued our tour of the island visiting the iconic remarkable rocks sightsee. This is a formation of rocks with unusual shapes on the sea side. The combination of shape and light with the blue sea as background results in an amazing view. The location is quite windy, but really worth the effort.Read more

    After remarkable rocks, we visited the nearby iconic admiral arch, a peculiar rock formation resulting in a crested arch. There are few stairs to get there, but the view is breathtaking. The colour contrast between rocks, sea and sunset was special.Read more

  • Vivonne beach

    We finished our day at kangaroo Island with a stop in popular Vivonne beach. It's a nice, long sand beach where you can enjoy the sun and the sea. Clear cold water and wind, with green vegetation growing all along the sand dunes, a beautiful way to close out island tour.Read more

  • Salt Creek

    We started the day early in the morning. Today we have a long transfer from Kangaroo Island to Mount Gambier, about 6h driving. After the ferry to Port Jarvis, we headed south along the cost and stopped in the middle for a quick bite at Salt Creek. It is a very small settlement in the middle of the road with a very nice food truck right on the road that unfortunately was closed today. Good for us that we bought some food at the market when we stopped for fuel.Read more

    These holes are typical of the Mount Gambier area, so we stopped to see this one before heading to the more popular Hells hole. Unfortunately, there was no water inside so it was a bit disappointing, but a nice trip inside the park.Read more

    Arrived in Mount Gambier we stopped to see the Hells hole before reaching our hotel. It's a big deep cave with dark water on the bottom. Looking down into it from the diving platform indeed give you a creepy sensation.Read more

  • The Giant Yambuk slide

    As first stop in our journey from Mount Gambier to Apollo Bay, we visited the giant slide of yambuk. Despite the light rain, on this big metal slide we tried the emotion of sliding down at full speed... Really fun!Read more

  • Port Fairy lighthouse

    To have a break along the road and lunch we stopped at Port Fairy. Here we defeated wind and rain to take the 30 mins walk to the local lighthouse. The view was nice despite the cloudy day and the lighthouse had a peculiar atmosphere in the rain. A quick bite with great fish and chips and we are ready to go!Read more

  • Loch Ard Gorge

    The Loch and Gorge is another fascinating stop along the great ocean road. This is the site of an ancient shipwreck and there are various interesting walks and sightseeing. The small beach with peculiar rock formations, the shipwreck viewing point and the razorblade rock. Again we had to walk around in the rain but the view was worth the effort!Read more

  • Twelve Apostles

    The 12 apostles was our last stop on the great ocean road before we headed to Apollo Bay. From the viewing points you can look at these rocks standing alone in the sea near the rocky coast. The rocks are continuously modified by wind and sea so they change through time in size and shape. A fascinating view!Read more

    Before we make our way to Melbourne, final destination of our road trip, we took a detour to see the beautiful triplet falls. It's a water fall in the center of a big tropical forest, with giant trees dating back hundreds of years ago.Read more

  • Hopetoun falls

    During our visit at triplet falls we met a local ranger that suggested us to visit this other nearby water fall so we decided to take a stop here as well. This is another fascinating waterfall deep in the forest... There are quite a few stairs to reach the observation point, but the view worths the effort!Read more

  • Dinner at the Sherlock's

    Arrived in Melbourne we returned the car and reached our hotel. It was a little challenge driving though the city center traffic while driving on the unusual (at least for us) side. We found this nice pub near the hotel perfect for dinner with a pint of cider. Maybe next time we can try the local pasta pizza offer... Or maybe not 😆Read more

  • Brighton beach houses

    We started our guided tour with a stop in Brighton to see the iconic colorful beach house. They are small wood houses made on the beach by the local owners to have a storage and resting space directly on the sea. They are now painted on beautiful colours and pictures all along the beach.Read more

  • Moonlit animal sanctuary

    Second stop of our guided tour was this animal sanctuary where they host various local animals including koalas, kangaroos, dingos, wombats and many others. There are also several interactive experiences available but low spaces so better to book them eventually. You can feed the kangaroos as well which is a nice way to interact with them closely.Read more

  • The nobbies @ Philip island

    Last stop of the tour before we head to the penguin parade. At the nobbies you can walk on a track around the coast. The view is stunning, there is a seagull colony and also few small penguins hiding in their borrows. If you are lucky you can also see seals and whales, but unfortunately we don't catch them.Read more

  • Penguins parade

    Finally, we got to the penguin parade visitor center. This experience is truly amazing! You can see big groups of Australian small penguins arriving from the sea and running across the beach and up into the bushes on the dunes. They are so fun and cute, you can see them run, meet each others and play. The view from the plus platform is perfect but unfortunately no photos or videos are allowed to avoid disturbing the penguins so it's a moment for your memory onlyRead more

  • Arrive in Cairns

    From Melbourne we went to Cairns to spend the last few days in warmer weather and enjoy the sea. The temperature here is indeed much better than in the south and we can finally out on shorts and t-shirt. First afternoon is just for settling down and relax a little by the pool and tomorrow we will start exploring more.Read more

  • Mossman Gorge rainforest walk

    Our first stop for this guided tour was the Mossman gorge station where we did a short walk around the rainforest on a boardwalk. It was a perfect way to familiarise with the rainforest and all the various species of trees living there and how they have adapted to this peculiar environment. The view on river is also stunning. At the end of the tour the station bar served us delicious scones with cream and a cup of tea made from local plantations. A tasty experience!Read more

  • Daintree river cruise

    Our guided tour includes also a short cruise along the Daintree river to enjoy the view of local mangrovia forest and try to spot crocodiles that live on the side of the river. Unfortunately we didn't spot any adult ones, but we were lucky enough to see a baby croc catching some sun. The atmosphere on the river is fascinating... A nice 40 Min trip!Read more

  • Rainforest lunch @ On the turps

    For lunch we stopped at this small restaurant in the middle of the rainforest. It is also a lodge with accommodations so it is possible to spend few days here to explore the area. It is a peculiar place right in the middle of the forest near a nice river where you can experiment full contact with the rainforest environment... And the food was good as well!Read more

  • Cape tribulation beach
