  • Final destination NZ

    June 20, 2023 in New Zealand ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

It’s a trap! New Zealand in winter is like Switzerland in someways… our first days we spent in a lovely home up in the north with rain and a fireplace.

I guess technically, we have arrived at our final destination - realistically, the adventure starts once again.

We will keep you updated from down under!

    June 6, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Our last and favorite place to workaway for… We stayed 10 days at a small community up on a hill. Danny and his siblings live there with their partners in small self build houses all over the property. For their mother they build a big house in the middle. Everyone has a garden and tons of veggies and fruits. They grow their own food forests and when the surf is up they go down to the beach. We saw whales and dolphins along the coast and in the back of their gardens live koalas. Every morning we saw the most beautiful sunrises and during the day we learnt some bush building techniques. In the evening there was no light pollution. The 10 days were super calming and inspiring. We both loved the vibe and this lifestyle in Bonville.Read more

Currently we’re planting garlic on a really remote farm. We’re a team of 5. Louis the French guy, Wing the girl from Hong Kong, Louisa the British and the two of us. Work is hard and the evening activities including hunting various animals… It’s a true Aussie Outback experience I reckon.Read more

  • Strawbale House

    May 20, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

So we spent another week with an Aussie family. They build a rare well insulated house in Australia. That’s already worth mentioning. We helped them move in - in their newly built straw-bale construction and redid their garden. Weeding and planting some winter crops. The time passed quickly and in the end we did House sitting for them. Every morning we would feed the really old horse and some ducks. During the day we did Dog sitting and we even baked a Züpfe. We also cooked Älplermagroni for the kids. (we sold them as Swiss Mac & Cheese which worked.)Read more

    May 12, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

We just finished a perfect week! We stayed at a National Park called Bundagen. Within there is a community or a bunch of old hippies living. They founded the National Park. We had the pleasure to stay with Giri and Joe, two incredible funny and knowledgeable human beings. The work was mainly in their beautiful garden and in the evening we would eat the freshly harvested vegetables…. every morning we would get up and hear so many Kookaburras chirp. In the evening we enjoyed the incredible beach and endless discussions about life and architecture.Read more

    March 16, 2023 in Cambodia ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

As we had some time before our trip continues to Sydney and we had just been in two busy city's we both longed for some down time and the lonely island bungalows were just the right place for it... no internet, good food, lots of books, perfect white sand beach and when swimming at night the most spectacular biolumonecent plankton I've ever seen, swimming around having lights blink around your hands as if you where conjuring a magic spell.

We very much enjoyed the quiet 🌴 ⛱️

  • Hospital and Temples 🛕

    March 9, 2023 in Cambodia ⋅ ☀️ 33 °C

The morning after arrival Céline had hardly slept as she had been sick all night 🌙 😒.
By the morning, she was dragging herself from bed to the toilet. As the situation deteriorated, we decided to take her to the hospital 🏥.

Turns out Celine had an Emoebe some sort of parasite, but it had no chance against the 220 $ IV dripp and soon left her alone.

On our last day in Siem Reap, we explored temples of Angkor Wat.

  • The Road Siem Reap

    March 7, 2023 in Cambodia ⋅ ☀️ 33 °C

After our stay on the River Islands, it was back on land, and after being moved from one mini van to the next as well as running out of petrol, we finally arrived at the border to Cambodia 🇰🇭 👏 however getting across was more of a challenge then we had thought we had read up and knew that it was a ranked the world's 3rd most tedious border crossing...
We held our ground with some Canadian travelers about not paying stamp fees, which the guards insisted on after 15 minutes of squabbling we a group of 8 or 9 people got taken into the buildings for interrogation.
While we listened outside as the conversation with a Canadian couple got more heated, we decided to give the Swiss embassy a call which for the first time was actually able to help not just us 3 Swiss citizens but managed to calm the guards down and let us on our way with our rightly free stamp in our passports. Time to cross border 2 hours. Once we made it across, we were back in a minivan getting loaded up as the journey continued to Siem Reap, where we arrived just as it got dark.

  • De Lüeb

    February 28, 2023 in Laos ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

This day we saw the saddest part of the loop. The burning jungle. Every farmer or family who owns a tiny piece of land burns it down to grow Cassavas. We drove through burning forests for hours… FUCK CHINA. We don’t blame the families they just try to make a living… The problem is that Cassava is maybe good for 4-5 crops afterwards the soil is completely destroyed. The Laos government is to weak to take action against it - so China is basically using Laos incredibly Nature to grow animal food and gasoline….

After this sad ride we found a hidden paradise where we stayed for 3 nights. We met Muu and Daan two individuals who like to read philosophy, roast their own coffee and enjoy life to the fullest. Sabay Sabay.

    February 26, 2023 in Laos ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

The next day we started with a flat tire. Luckily Lao people are used to it and we got it fixed within 1km and 30min. For 1.95 CHF.

This day & night we spent at a remote Katu village with animistic families. We respected their beliefs and didn’t take pictures. It was a very simple bed and for dinner we ate sticky rice. Some children showed us their land and we had great fun teaching and learning some new words.Read more

Our first stop we made at a coffee plantation. We had a small tour where we could see all the Arabica trees and ate red ants as snacks. The guide was also explaining us that almost all families now plant Manjok (Cassava) fields which they export to China….

We spent the night at the first waterfall where we drank too much beer…
