Did opt for the train again (see pic). Spent most of the day in the Colosseum, the Forum and Palatine Hill. Quite breathtaking and an on-line guide helped with the history. Ended with a pizza at one of the hundreds of streetside restaurants, the streets still thronged with people well into the evening. Saw the Trevi fountain floodlit but just as underwhelming as by day.
