Stage 21: Hermonville à Reims

Its spelling notwithstanding, Reims is pronounced like the English word “rancid” but without the “id.” Go figure.

Definitely in Champagne now!

No rain until very late in the afternoon, after I had already arrived. No rain, but lots and lots of huge puddles. A lot of them completely covered the path, and I had to hold onto one tree or branch after another to avoid falling in as I slipped and slid along the edges.

I visited the Cathédral de Notre Dame, which is lovely. Two highlights for me were the smiling angel and the stained glass panels by Marc Chagall. Wondrous!Read more
