Stage 36: Champlitte

What a long, long day! The distances from the three apps never line up, but the Via Francigena site said 22 miles. No idea about the elevation gain, but we did go up and over three mountains. The sun was beating down on us from noon on. It would have been so much worse if we had not started at 4:15am. It took us about ten hours.

The landscapes were delightful. We started out in the pitch black forest. It was pretty loud, with birds and frogs and rushing rivers. Later it was mostly farmland, forests and the river’s edge.
