Stage 37: Dampierre-sur-Salon

A shorter day, but very hot.

I learned today that we are in the Diagonale du Vide. It’s a section of France where there is nothing, and what little there is is closed. No bars, no cafés, no restaurants, no anything. Luckily we were able to stock up for tomorrow, which will be another very long day…..but with rain,

Apple trees, wild blackberries, sunflowers, wheat, a lot of wildflowers but fewer than before, lots of very large farm vehicles driven by what appeared to be naked French men but who were in fact just wearing tiny shorts, baguette bags hung near mailboxes for the daily bread delivery…Read more
