  • Johnston Falls & Ink Pools - nature

    July 14, 2024 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Finally we have arrived in Banff National Park - our first hike was up to Johnston falls and in to the ink pools (their different coloring comes from different speeds the water goes through sediments) - having passed the masses that hike up to the waterfalls, bike a few more people take the effort to go further to the ink pools. But it was worth it. Just some impressionsRead more

  • Takakawa falls and Emerald lake

    July 16, 2024 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

After two days in Banff National Park, we head over to Yoho National Park. A short stopover at Takakawa falls - it’s amazing how the masses of water fall down hundreds of meters. No chance to get out dry.
And then a nice hike at Emerald lake up into Emerald basin, where all the little downstreams from the mountains form Emerald River.

Afterwards we discovered jasper (no pics made ;))

  • Wildlife and Spirit Island Tour

    July 20, 2024 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Canada’s national parks are just amazing! Something new every day. Today, Friday, a little wildlife tour (elks, big horn sheep, a tiny little chipmunk which was too fast to take a photo, bald eagle baby’s, osprey….) - what an amazing day.Read more

  • Moraine lake … and a bear

    July 21, 2024 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

In our last day in the parks, we take a 2,5hr break at beautiful moraine lake. In our way there we met Mrs Bear - she looked quite skinny and we hope she manages to put on some weight for the next winter. We were quite lucky to see her, some more elk, and Mountain sheep on the streets, and apparently the notorious chipmunks. Such cuties!Read more

  • Elks 😍

    July 22, 2024 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Canadas wildlife is amazing. And one of those species are elks… but be aware of the false friends. What we call elks in German are actually moose. The elks we saw are called “Rotwild” in Germany, if I’m not mistaken. Still they were beautiful. Especially the males with their impressive antlers.Read more

  • Impressions of Montreal

    July 23, 2024 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

After nearly two weeks of wonderful nature in the national parks it is hard to adapt to city life again. Although montreal is really beautiful, we miss the national parks heaps. Still some impressions before we go in to Quebec.Read more

  • Whale watching Quebec

    July 26, 2024 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

  • Toronto

    July 28, 2024 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Although, for sure, it has beautiful corners, Toronto did not really find its way into my heart. Being the last stop on my trip, I was quite emotional and spent the time discovering the city with Iris and alone.
    Sad to go back :(
