Dublin

Christ Church Cathedral is Dublin's oldest building and stands on the site where the Danish King Sitriuc built a small wooden church. It is one of the most visited sights in Dublin. In 1172, the Anglo-Norman conqueror Strongbow began building a larger church. Almost nothing is left of that design.

Subsequent renovations, particularly in the 19th century, have given the church a Victorian appearance. Then a 'Bridge of Sighs' was also added, connecting the church to the old Synod Hall, where you can view the Dublinia multimedia exhibition. You can see Dublin as it looked about 500 years ago, there is a focus on the period when the plague ruled the city, the settlement that the Vikings built there, and the artifacts found in archaeological excavations.
