Hotel Acapulco is propably where she did stay. Then it was called Hotel Windsor and was blue? Anneke stayed here with Herman and Raymond 48 years ago. There used to be a swimming pool at the roof top.

The boulevard with many of restaurants and shops. Also in the narrow streets just behind the boulevard. I bought a t-shirt for only 3€.

Another show tonight. The Chacumbels perform at 10 PM. Our last, because tomorrow morning we leave for Barcelona by train. We only saw a female singer. When we arrived we were led to the table by people we had seen there before and they started singing to me in celebration of my birthday. I received a present (Barcelona magnet) and a small cake with a candle on it. Dear people, they came from Barcelona or that area. Roasted chestnuts and small pastries were served, as well as a special Catalan drink that tasted like wine. Then we all went dancing and after dancing we exchanged some phone numbers and email addresses. Thanks to everyone for the gift and the birthday surprise and we went back to the hotel room at approximately 00:30 a.m.Read more

Day 5 [Sunday]: Breakfast for the last time at this hotel. We have had a fantastic stay here. Nice food, good entertainment and beautiful surroundings. We enjoyed it very much.

On 20230624 I bought online two tickets (Hola Barcelona Travel Card) valid for 3 days. Total costs: 42,84€ instead of 47,60€. On arrival we wanted to redeem the tickets but everytime there was an error message. Perhaps I bought the tickets too early, therefor I bought two new tickets for two days from the vending machine. Price: 32,80€.

We arrived early at our hotel and were told we could enter our room at 3 PM. We could leave our bags before our room door and they told us it will be inside the room after 3 PM. We did get a keychain with 3 keys (front door, hotel door and room door). The toilet is outside the room. We could take as much as food (cookies) and drinks (coffee or tea) as we would like which were to be found near the reception desk. There was also an elevator but it looked extremely old. We could get a free coffee if we ordered something from the menu at Petit Pot restaurant which was situated around the corner. We had a nice apple pie along with the coffee.

The Columbus Monument, which opened in 1888 during the Universal Exhibition, stands at the beginning of La Rambla, near the sea. Take the lift inside the column to the viewing gallery at the top, 60 metres above the ground, where you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the city and the port.

We could not visit the statue of Columbus because it was closed on Sunday. It's open on Monday (from 08:30-13:00). Entrance fee 8€ per person. So, we decided to relax a bit and take a boat tour with live music. Normal price 21,50€ per person, now it was 15€ per person.Read more

It took about one hour and it was on a catamaran. You could buy food and drinks on board and the views from the boat were fabulous.

At about 17:30 we were back at the hotel and unpacked our bags. After a while we went out to find a nice place to eat. We found a Turkish restaurant called Agababaa not far from our hotel. It was a cosy place, but the quality of the food and the service unfortunately were not so good.Read more

At 9:00 AM we left by metro towards the Telecommunications Tower near the Olympic village. We ended up in a modern neighbourhood near the two towers near Barceloneta, but we couldn't find it. We took a taxi there (13€). Then we couldn't find the entrance to the tower. There are a lot of stairs here. We took some photos there. Then we got on a bus and got off somewhere near a park (Parque della Ciutadella). We walked through the park and we came to a Zoo and the Parliament building of Catalonia. We wanted to walk to the two towers, but ended up in the park again. We had something to eat and drink in the park. Then we had to go to the toilet. I went first, the door didn't lock. Then Anneke left and I said that I would stand at the door so that she would not be disturbed. She could also tidy herself a little bit up, because her mouth was full of chocolate from the chocolate croissant she had eaten. While I was holding the door closed for Anneke, a pigeon farted on my head. It was quite a dollop. The toilet was under a large tree.
