Zelenci & Lake Jasna

Today we got up to another beautiful day! Very cold where we were parked, but we drove 5 min down the road to the first stop and it was already much warmer!

First stop was Zelenci Nature Reserve. It is a very small lake in a marshy wetlands area and was absolutely gorgeous! The lake is actually a spring and had lots of fish in and the mountains and the color and everything were gorgeous! So clear and clean and lovely. We did walk a bigger loop to see a bit more, but that still wasn’t that far to walk. Loved it.

Then we headed on to Kranjska Gora and Lake Jasna. When researching this trip so many people were like skip Lake Bled go to Lake Jasna instead it is so much nicer. So I thought it would be it great! We parked just outside of town and spied on what was there (and got a buckwheat plumb pastry which was really tasty), then walked along the river out to the lake. Now the lake photos look pretty nice (they start with the goat sculpture), but it wasn’t that great in real life. It was fine, but not as gorgeous as I thought it would be. Defiantly not as nice as any of the other lakes we have seen on this trip including the tiny one this morning! We did have a long break and ate lunch there then walked back to the car, but it was pretty disappointing. I’m looking at the photos again and thinking this looks way better than it was, when normally I think the photos don’t do the nature we see justice! Oh well.
