Day 45, In Love with Kyoto

On the final leg of our Japanese travel. We visited two sites this morning in Kyoto: Ryoanji and Kinkakuji. Ryoanji is a famous ‘dry garden’, which means it is only rocks and stones. Needs a lot of imagination is my opinion. I preferred the beautiful ‘wet gardens’ surrounding it. Kinkakuji is a three-story pavilion holding remains of the Buddha, the top two floors completely covered in gold leaf. Pretty spectacular. Lovely gardens there too. Mark is so motivated by seeing how the Japanese create and maintain their gardens that he has big dreams of some changes to make in our midwestern yard (after retirement😎).
🌳🌳🌳We then took our last ride on a bullet train, to Tokyo. We are back in our original hotel but, with all of the experiences of the past 10 days, it seems like years since we were last here.Lue lisää
