Our first impressions of Panajachel is a big market town, especially on a Sunday! The market stretched all of the way down the main street and all the way along the promenade.

San Juan La Laguna

Our first stop of the day was San Juan La Laguna, just a short ferry ride from our base in San Pedro. We were greeted with an immediate colourful ascent!

Indian Nose Hike

Santa Ana Volcano Crater

At the rim of the crater you can look down into the steaming emerald lake. The sulphur choked us at times but this didn't stop us enjoying a well earned pizza slice as we admired the view.

Our next stop was the cathedral, towering over the Civic Square. We also took a trip down to the crypt where Oscar Romero is buried, the national saint who was assassinated in 1980.
