Almaty to Turkistan, Kazakhstan

Overnight trains provide our nest and each sunrise provides a new vista. This morning’s view the desert, camels and Turkistan, the spiritual capital of the Turkic world and another UNESCO heritage site. Toured a museum, archaeological dig and an 11th century Sufi mausoleum. Might seem ‘dead’ boring, but all brought alive by excellent guides.
