    October 2, 2025 in Armenia ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

A few months ago, we wouldn’t have been able to name Armenia’s capital, let alone imagine its layout and atmosphere.
We are amazed to find a sophisticated international city: a café society full of wonderful architecture, fountains, public art & galleries, opera houses, national orchestra, fashion houses, film industry, etc.
Armenia has a long and proud history of art, culture, music, science and medical innovations. This is due to their early Christianity, meaning a large cadre of priests and monks who ensured all the people were well educated and encouraged to have inquiring minds.
Our visit to the capital’s book depository provided plenty of written evidence of Armenia’s scholastic achievements. Their early scientists and astronomers documented the world was round well before Galileo’s theory upset the Catholic church. Much more open-minded, the Armenian Apostolic church had no problem combining science, astronomy, herbalism and proven pagan solutions to expand their knowledge base.
PS scroll to the last photo to see Laura's mother's efforts for which she would take no fee!!! This Armenian agate bead will be one of my favourite jewellery pieces.
