On our way home via Los Cristinos

    February 1 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

We are on our way home today but as we don't fly till late afternoon we decided get away early and spend the day in Los Cristianos. The weather today is as you would expect the best so far. After arriving in Los Cristianos we walk along the promenade to Playa de las America's, there are certainly more people here than in our resort. A last lunch before we make our way to the airport, see you all soonRead more

    Puerto de la Cruz

    January 31 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

After the gardens we stroll down to the seafront by the Lagoon before going for a meal of Tapas, eight small plates of food to share between us, all very nice apart from the fish dish. Back to the apartment for a last sit in the sunshine before packing, the holiday is nearly over.

Puerto de la Cruz Botanical Gardens

    January 31 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Today is our last full day so we are staying close to home and visiting The Botanical Gardens. There are not a huge amount of flowers in bloom but what is really impressive is the size of some of the trees. The strangest ones were the ones with adventurous roots which are also called "aerial prop roots" which grow down from the plants and act as supports allowing the trees to spread.Read more

    Punta del Hidalgo

    January 30 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

Thursday's trip out is to a coastal town called Punta del Hidalgo to the east of the island, not much really to say about this because there's not much there in the end! The weather today is not so good we have clear blue sky and it is still warm but we've got a thick mist which is very low over the mountains. The sea is a bit rough here so much so there are actually people surfing. The town has a lido and a couple of cafés but not much else. At the farthest point of the promenade is a lighthouse one of the most modern lighthouses I have ever seen. Returned back to the apartment for book reading and drinkies.Read more

    Icod de los Vinos

    January 29 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

Our next stop was in a town called Icos de Los Vinos, home to the largest and oldest dragon tree on the island, there was also a hydrangea tree there, didn't know they grow into trees. We had a walk around the town which was quite pleasant lots more buildings with wooden balconies, it seems to be something of a trend on Tenerife. We then drove home for a sit on the balcony, tonight I actually got a picture of a sunset.Read more

    January 29 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Wednesday's trip was to a town called Garachico, we parked by the sea wall and walked along the small promenade watching the waves crash onto the rocks and found one of the smallest castles I've ever seen right on the seafront. We had a walk around a park which was formed in the ruins of an old building and then walked out on to the harbour wall to take an artistically posed portrait using blocks of concrete which have been strategically placed to frame your pictures overlooking the sea. Returning up into the town's narrow streets and square with one of the tallest church towers so far this holiday.Read more

    Loro Parque 4

    January 28 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

Last but not least we went to see the Sea Lion show and the Chimpanzees. I know there's a lot of footprints on this one but it was such a wonderful place with so much to see. After that we went back to the apartment and soak up the rays on the balcony. All in all a very good day.

    Loro Parque 3

Next we move on to the Dolphin show that was spectacular, they are such cute looking creatures. We then had a walk under the Shark tunnel and the Aquarium, that was really freaky. After that we went into the free flying area where birds of all sorts Parrots, Parakeets and lots more were just flying about freely.Read more

    Loro Parque 2

    January 28 in Spain ⋅ 🌙 13 °C

As we continue through the park we see Pygmy Hippos, the pictures not very good as he was right up against the glass. Orchids, they were beautiful, Flamingos, just standing there looking sublime in the sunshine on one leg. We also saw a Lion and a Lioness but again the pictures are not wonderful reflections on the glass.Read more
