Onwards then to Hayfield to our new site situated in an old quarry.

    Edale

    Yesterday in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 7 °C

Woke to sunnier weather today but really cold. I'm not feeling up to doing much so this afternoon Martin went on a bike ride to Edale by himself brought back some shortbread for afternoon tea. He got back just before the rain 🌧️ started. Can you see a theme here.Read more

    Castleton Take Two

    May 5 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 3 °C

After a much better night we woke to sunshine ☀️ and slightly warmer temperatures. Lunchtime we got the new bikes out and prepared to set off for a ride, this was momentarily halted due to a hailstorm.
Unpreturbed we set off towards Hope, where I took the first picture, yes that could be snow or at least the hail that had just passed over.
We turn and head back towards Castleton on the back roads, flat according to Martin, then we encountered a hill, I must admit I am most impressed with the new bikes, I know it was on Turbo mode but I made it up the hill without stopping and not getting too out of breath. There's no way the old ones would have done that.
It's not exactly warm so we head back to the van and what do you know, the sun decides to come out again but I've had enough, I'm sitting in the warm with my book while Martin goes out for another ride.

    Castleton

    May 4 in the United Kingdom ⋅ 🌧 3 °C

After a very disturbed nights sleep due to the hammering rain, wind rocking the van and the fact that I, Deb, have developed a terrible sore throat, sore skin and a headache that kept me awake for most of the night we woke to yet more rain.
We are moving on to Castleton and the Camping and Motorhome Club site, a very popular site with not many vacancies at weekends.
We take a walk into the town this afternoon, I'm sure if the sun had shone it would have been very pretty, plenty of nice pub's but today was certainly not the weather for sitting outside with a drink.

    Off we go

    May 3 in the United Kingdom ⋅ 🌧 8 °C

Off we go to The Peak District by way of an overnight stay at Sudbury just outside Uttoxeter. First stop is The Black Country Museum so Martin can have his second Covid jab, he is now feeling invincible. So far no ill effects.
While waiting for Martin to be jabbed the rain started in earnest and continued until about 8pm when we did see a glimpse of sun 🌞and a double rainbow 🌈. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

    A Pint At Last

    April 16 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 9 °C

After making our way back towards the town we decide the time has come for a long awaited drink.
After first finding a pub with space, booking the table for 90 minutes, checking in with track and trace, taking our name and address, two pints of blood and sanitising our hands we are led to our table overlooking the bridge.
Two pints of Fursty Ferret, 2 G & T's and 2 Fish Finger Sandwiches, the best £35 we've spent in a long time, it was well worth the wait.
On the way back to the station we found Jackson's own personal Fish and Chip shop.
All in all a good day out.

    A Day In Weymouth

    April 16 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ☀️ 6 °C

Beautiful sunny 🌞 day so we're off to Weymouth to see what that has to offer. After a short train ride on a nice new electric train we arrive and head straight for the promanade for a constitutional, just like all the other sad old guys, that's before any of you lot say it.
We are very pleasantly surprised by the huge sandy beach and overall appearance of the town.
Jackson would love it here there are Donkeys to ride along the beach 🏖️.
We start walking towards the harbour and making the most of the good weather we sit down for a cuppa in the sunshine ☀️.

    Dorchester

    April 14 in the United Kingdom ⋅ 🌙 4 °C

After a lie in and doing our exercises we have a leisurely breakfast before catching the train to Dorchester. The station is opposite what used to be a brewery and has now been converted into modern apartments, shops and eateries.

We walked around the town and had coffee and a cake outside a café. Not a huge town but okay.
