    These butterflies are the great great grandchildren of the butterflies that were here last year. Amazingly, these guys live four to six months, but the next three generations live only four to six weeks.
    Every year, thousands of monarchs winter in this moderate coastal climate. They cluster in the trees to save energy and keep warm before setting out again for areas thousands of miles away in spring.
