Dropped Nellys mum back off after a few days with us and stayed in the same free parking area. Better site this time that backed onto the oval and went for dinner and sunset at rays, probably the best joint in town, was mint would definitely go back. Also got to experience the pier after some tips from the lads. All in all a good stay.Leia mais

Snagged the best spot in the whole joint! Pretty epic little beach camp. Had the joint mostly to ourselves. Good system with a pay and find your own spot. Have to be adventurous or you end up in a car park. 6 nights here, big tides and good scenery. No fish but probably didn’t try as hard as I could have. Would definitely stay again!Leia mais

Stayed at discovery park Broome, made the mistake of school holidays so it cost us 100 per night, nice enough spot and park, scored a waterfront site. Unfortunately had fairly windy days for the whole week so got a few jobs and Gibb prep done. Would stay again if it was off season and a bit cheaper.Leia mais

    17–18 de jul. 2024, Austrália ⋅ 🌙 23 °C

Pulled in a bit late couldn’t get in at Quandong point and got a little “temporarily immobilised” (not bogged) testing if I could get the van to an epic spot, turns out there was a reason no one went there 😆. Found a spot here at James price. Will hunt for a better spot tomorrow but nice enough, burgers whales and mint stars👌Leia mais

Lucked out with one of the best sites in here so stayed 4 days, was only supposed to be 3 nights but lost the dog on the 3rd night and figured we deserved another. Found him after 4 hours of searching which really ruined a nice day and arvo, turns out he’s not a fan of fireworks. Mint 4wd beach almost to ourselves we spent a good bit of time on. First go at the camp oven meal was a success with lamb shanks and veg. Shame about the 72 hour limit or I could stay here a good while!Leia mais

  • Dugal (flat rock)

    22–25 de jul. 2024, Austrália ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Took the cliff site up high for some extra space, good views, cracking fire pit spot and perfect access to a large stretch of 4wd beach with reef, lagoons and rock pools. Impressive to see the tides come in and out all up and down this coast. Few epic days spent and got up close to a tiger shark.Leia mais

Super quiet and relaxed, run by a few old crew who are happy to have a yarn or give out info on the area. Nice inlet with alleged mud crabs and fish. None for us. A few crocs spotted around so a bit more careful from here onwards! 😆 mozzies are a tad brutal in the evenings but other than that a nice spot!Leia mais

Amazing little bush camp, run by the traditional land owner and a few others he employs seasonally this was a quiet and spacious camp that backed right onto an epic bay with clear water for swimming. We booked 5 days originally then added 6 more as it was that good. Great for launching the boat or spending days relaxed on the beach. No power and very little reception unless you hang out by the cell tower and even then it wasn’t great. Good toilets and showers but only limited hot water. $50 a night was probably a bit steep but what it lacked in amenities it more than made up for with the location. There were quite a few staying a month and I can see why. Fishing was good, whales everywhere and got some magic weather too which is always nice.Leia mais

Stop in Broome for a couple of days to stock up and sort our lives out before going for the Gibb. Back at the racecourse with a pretty good spot! Spent too much time on the beers so it took an extra day or so to get out 😆😞. Did get to catch up with a good mate though by staying the extra day so that was a plus.Leia mais

Pretty epic hike, very prehistoric Jurassic Park feel to it. Turns out we went on the old hike and didn’t stop where we were supposed to, 1.9km turned into 6-7km. Much better with the longer hike though, lots more crocs too! 🐊Leia mais

  • Tunnel creek

    15 de agosto de 2024, Austrália ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

Pretty cool cave to explore, a good head light is a must as it’s mostly black. If you were there by yourself the first water crossing would get you second guessing as it’s mostly too deep to stand we followed a group across where we could barley stand, me kicking a stick in the muddy ground nearly had me walking on water. A good few bats in the ceiling I only found one well hidden crocodile but it is still unsettling never knowing for sure 😆 a few cool openings to the sky and a nice creek at the end. Lots of screaming kids when we did it which was a tad unfortunate but that’s tourism…Leia mais

Nice little free camp for best access to bell gorge and a small backtrack to Lennard’s gorge. Small creek down the bottom of camp but not running so it’s a bit gross unfortunately. No March flies or insects to report though 👌Leia mais

  • Lennards gorge

    16 de agosto de 2024, Austrália ⋅ ☀️ 34 °C

Another day another hike. 3kms with a steep bit at the far end, very rocky. Would probably be quite nice in the wet season or early on when everything opens but not much here for me besides the step count… Its allegedly possible to get down the bottom but it was a bloody long and steep way down and we couldn’t see a way, not to mention all the signs were claiming cliff fall risk and do not attempt to climb down. Still nice to see probably wouldn’t bother next time.Leia mais

    17 de agosto de 2024, Austrália ⋅ ☀️ 33 °C

Had to un hook the van and do a bit of 4wding to get to this one, worth a visit as it was a large super quiet swimming hole at the top. A few backpackers beat us in for the best spot but a nice swim none the less. Would be cool with water flowing but we are a bit late in the season / early for the next for that…. Would recommend.Leia mais

Thought we were going to be able to stay at mount Barnett, turns out this is the only campground near by. Beautiful spot to stay cost $50 the first night which includes the pass to explore the gorge then $30 every night after. As well as being the only spot to get out and explore mannjng gorge it’s also only about 20 mins to get back to Galvin’s gorge. Toilets and showers were good. Camp grounds got more spread out the further you went from the amenities. Beautiful sandy beach, swimming hole and creek with a rope swing for an afternoon bevy or two, floatation recommend! ☺️🍻Leia mais

The gateway back to manning gorge camp with a mildly famous burger I must try. Also a good spot to get a few bits and pieces if required. Only place with reception that isn’t wifi is a plus too😆.

Burger, I’d say a typical old school Aussie burger, not the American style everyone has adopted now. It was large with a standard burger bun, beef patty, cheese, onion, bacon, egg, beetroot, pineapple, tomato, lettuce and pretty standard sauces. It was nice to have an old school “works burger” not the best I’ve had but not bad. Beef patty could have been better too!😆 I am a tough critic though as brodie says “ the burgers are better at Alex’s Webber!”
