  • Riano Campsite

    31. August 2024 in Spanien ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

Well that didn’t go to plan. After driving for three hours to Posada de Valdeon we discovered that there was some kind of cross country running competition happening and the whole village was closed to traffic. A quick search on Search for Sites brought us here to this rather pleasant little campsite in Riano. The first photo gave us a taste of the storm heading our way that evening but on the following day (Sunday) the weather turned out fine and the sun shone down on us. ☀️Weiterlesen

  • Bėgar Motorhome Aire

    2. September 2024 in Spanien ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

A free aire on the edge of town at the now disused train station 🚂. It all looks a bit tatty but there is no doubting the popularity of the place as we are parked up with fourteen other vans and it’s still early evening. It does have a big plus going for it though as it is situated right on the Via Verde cycle way.Weiterlesen

  • Merida

    3. September 2024 in Spanien ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

Yep as per some reviews of this site the buses coming home at night are noisy and some of them get pressure cleaned in the early morning but who cares as we are here to visit the extensive Roman ruins and to say they are impressive is a understatement. Let’s start here with a 5 min walk to the Roman Circus and aqueduct then do new footprints for the other sites we Visited.Weiterlesen

  • Amphitheatre

    4. September 2024 in Spanien ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

As our bodies get older and our minds younger we have added electric scooters 🛴 to our mode of transport and we zipped along to the Roman Amphitheatre in under five minutes from our parking spot. If you enjoy Roman history then this is a must see place for you.Weiterlesen

  • Damn Scooter

    8. September 2024 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

So damn scooter I say but not only that it’s damn bike as well.
Fell off the scooter and Glynis got a puncture in the front wheel of her bike. These things are meant to try us for sure.
A glass of that blue wine should make everything ok again!Weiterlesen

  • Whistler Tree

    12. September 2024 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

This is the largest Quercus Suber L tree in the world AKA Cork Tree. It is over 240 years old and is 16.2 m high. It would take 5 adults linking hands to span the circumference (Glynis tried on her own but could not do it). So why is it known as the Whistler 🌴? I can help there as well, it’s because when the birds land to rest in the tree the sounds they make sound like someone whistling.Weiterlesen

  • Quinta Brejinho do Costa

    12. September 2024 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

This was a new one for us. We booked a night staying in a Vineyard through Portugal Easycamp. They vary in price and this one was a bit on the expensive side at €40.00 a night but for that not only did we get great views and electricity but also 5 bottles of wine. 🍷 Deciding to buy a couple more for the motorhome fridge resulted in some serious wine tasting. Great stuff!Weiterlesen

  • Camping Albufeira

    13. September 2024 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

This is a large site where the pitches are not marked out so you more or less set up wherever you fancy but you can see by the hardening of the ground where to go. A bit scruffy on the ground but then again grass doesn’t grow to well in this heat. The pool area is fabulous and the landscaping around that area is spot on. Bar and restaurant on site but we have not used either of these while being here. Highly recommended and reasonably priced.
Oops! I said that we had not used the restaurant but on our last night there we did. I had Pork and Glynis had steak cooked on hot rocks. Very tasty and not too badly priced considering we had a bottle of wine to go with it.

  • Tavira

    19. September 2024 in Portugal ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Bikes are off the rack and we are off into town to check out the delights of Tavira. This is our first visit here and I am sure it will not be the last. What an interesting little town full of Cobble Streets, bars and restaurants. Come evening we were treated to a group of youngsters Ballet dancing on stage in the town square.Weiterlesen

  • Cabanas

    21. September 2024 in Portugal ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

Left the Camper park on our bikes today after the rain had stopped and rode through the Salt Flats to Cabanas a bit further along the coast. Not a large place but plenty of bars along the front. Stopped off in the Irish pub/Sports bar after a walk along the boardwalk. Not a particularly large place and not to my liking but there were plenty of people wandering around.Weiterlesen

  • Castilleja De Guzman

    23. September 2024 in Spanien ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

We have arrived at our free parking space in the above town (I am not writing all that down again) that we have again found on the search for Sites app We will be stopping here for a couple of nights while we take a visit to Seville. From here you can see Seville in the distance and I will let you know how that goes later.Weiterlesen

  • Seville

    24. September 2024 in Spanien ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

The plan was to go to Seville for the day and take a quick Look round and then go to a Flamenco 💃🏼 show in the evening.
What a city. It’s not possible to take this lot on board in a single day so a mental note has been made to return. Full of little cobble streets that reveal open courtyards and public squares to numerous to count and of course photo opportunities galore. As for the Flamenco well that’s a must see and I would go again at the drop of a hat.Weiterlesen

  • Antequera

    25. September 2024 in Spanien ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

This is the view from our parking place this evening.
Free parking in the hills above the town of Antequera. Will probably move down to the other Aire in the morning to dump waste and take on water.
I might consider a shower as well.
Ok so now that I am a bit cleaner and we have done the shopping at the supermarcado we are off to see some ancient tombs.

  • The Good The Bad And The Ugly

    27. September 2024 in Spanien ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

The Good- - Little Texas Motorhome Park
The Bad. - - puncture In the motorhome tyre
The Ugly - - The cost of a new one
Yep you guessed it we are in amongst the Spaghetti western film sets on the edge of Desierto de Tabernas. Eric the Dutch Guy is chief honcho here and taking care of things for us while we soak up the sun and swim in his pool and of course drink beer to drown our sorrows. 🍺Weiterlesen
