    Textiles and Temples

    November 20, 2024 in India ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

Today we visited one of India's largest manufacturing mills. It was a fascinating tour of a state of the art facility from the cotton bale, to the thread manufacture, to the weaving of the fabric, to the dye shop, to the digital printing and packaging for export. I will never complain about threading my overlocker again! The factory runs 24/7 and the process is 3 days from the cotton bale to packaged for export. 2 kilometers of thread produced per minute! No photos allowed.
After a lunch at the Syntex factory we went on to Maheshwar. A temple town on the banks of a river. Incredible temples and carvings. A town known for handwoven saris and fabrics. Very sadly we just did not have enough time to shop!
