Lots of stress, good and bad, leading up to our rushed departure on the 26th. Due to deep snow simultaneous with mud season at the house, we stashed Bruno in the back parking area of Saxtons River Distillery in Brattleboro. They have our unending gratitude, and we have taken with us two bottles of their maple liqueur for friends we're seeing up the road.Read more

After a night in the worst motel I've ever experienced outside of the third world, we walked into the Stockade District of Kingston on the morning of the 27th. The town center is full of character and is very old - was the first capital of New York among other notable things. This is definitely on our list of towns to explore further.Read more

Armstrong Valley Winery - 200 year old estate. Very welcoming Harvest Hosts members. We were alone in the RV parking space, facing a line of trees and drinking wine while watching the sun set. Our FIRST night in the RV and it was a pleasure. In the morning, we walked Abby on the winery grounds and met/talked with the manager, who saved our skin by warning us of the super twisty mountain road out of town.Read more

Just a brief stop to break up the constant noise and stress of the highway. Hagerstown City Park was very cultivated and beautiful, with an art gallery on site, and a pond we walked around. Abby loved to lurch at the geese and watch them skirt back into the water.Read more

A beautiful, peaceful park close to Appomattox (which we'll visit tomorrow morning on our way out). So very quiet, lots of grounds to walk (30 miles of trails, and an amphitheater for dark sky viewing). I'm at work at the picnic table while Michael problem-solves the legion of issues our used rig has presented. Abby seems to love the camping thing and I think she might even think the payoff of experiencing the new is bigger than the stress of the ride.Read more

Two nights at the Defeated Creek Army Corps of Engineers park on Cordell Hull reservoir, to rest up. I've read really good things about COE parks, and this was an excellent, peaceful place. I don't understand how it can be so peaceful at night what with how many people were there, but it must be about the ethos that goes with them.Read more

The good - nice sunset last night, water birds, a downtime day just here cleaning up and putting more pieces together.

The bad - two persistently loose dogs, one who now is antagonistic to Abby, so we're fairly trapped in our little area. Group of about 12 Punjabi youth all night shouting and playing music loudly, literally till 5:30 a.m.
