Yesterday afternoon we arrived in Bolzano and walked around the old medieval town. We took the opportunity to do our laundry and have a nice dinner of South Tyrol cuisine which is Austrian and Italian fusion. Today we had a wonderful food tour where we ate and drank and then went to the Archaeological museum to learn about the story of Otzi a 5,000 year old mummified body that was found nearby and then visited a few churches and had more food. Today we drove a lot and hiked a lot. The scenery has been amazing. We made a huge circle through the Dolomites and stopped for two hikes. • May 30 Novacella, Bressanone, and Seis

    May 30 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

Today we have our second day of public transportation. It proved to be challenging but we had a fun day regardless. We took the bus to Abbazia di Novacella which is an abbey that has a winery. The Winery was closed but we were still able to sample the line at the pub in the old Castle. From there we took the bus back to Bressanone and walked through the town and saw a few churches. We chose the local bus to return to Ortesei where we had to change busses but the town where the change was required was blocked for a festival. We ended up in Seis and after a long wait we had to back track to Ponte Gardena/Waidbruck to catch another bus home. We proudly navigated this all on our own.Read more

We walked back and had a drink at the nearby kosher restaurant.Read more

  • Last day in Venice

    June 1 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Today we walked 45 min through the streets od Venice to meet up with a guide for a walking tour of St Mark's Square and all the sights. After the tour we had Venetian seafood tapas and got a vaporetto ticket so we could travel around the city by boat. We went to Murano island to see the creations and saw a glass blower
The sky started to turn black so we jumped back on our vaporetto and barely made it back to our Doc before the skies opened up. We waited for about 15 minutes and we're finally able to walk to our hotel. An hour later the sun came out and we were back on the vaporetto going down the Grand Canal. We picked a site for dinner walk back to the hotel and packed to get ready to leave.
