Planes and airports

Airlines travelled on in India/Nepal Air India, Vistara, Spicejet, GoAir, Jet Airways; IndiGo: 6 internal lights, flights in and out of Nepal. The extra special one over Everest- Buddha Airlines. Into Kathmandu hand luggage had to go through security before collecting checked luggage and on way out as we boarded the plane at the bottom of the steps a check of hand luggage and a body frisking.
Leh airport also high security, told only our passport allowed as hand luggage on flight back to New Delhi.Read more

Early morning to McLeodganj where the Dalai Lama's residence, the Namgyal Monastery is located together with the Norulinka Institute. Our group had a personal audience with him and photos in small groups. As always he was very insightful, engaging and funny. This is now the headquarters of the exiled Tibetan Government.Read more

Our latest departure so far, 8.45am, so a sleep in, yoga outdoors and a leisurely breakfast. Morning at Kangra Fort, largest in the Himalayas. Built 1500 BC. The fort's origins can be traced to the ancient Trigarta kingdom mentioned in the Mahabharata. Major damage in earthquake of 1905.Read more

Wake up call at 4am, down in lobby 4.20am for sorting luggage as only 15kg limit for flight to Leh. Hotel gave us a breakfast pack, on one hour flight served breakfast and on arrival sent to restaurant for a third breakfast. Altitude is 4530 metres. Beautiful gardens despite it being so dry.Read more

Meeting Dalai Lama

Didn't just get to meet and talk to him individually but all done in front of his private room because he was going in to ordain monks from Hong Kong and Taiwan. Group photo in the prayer and religious instructions room of the highest Lama priests.Read more

Our group did a living Mandela last night and released it into the Indus River this morning. Visited Stok Royal Palace, Monastery. Stopped off at other Temple sites, including 14th and 17th century structures. Scenery stunning.Read more

8am departure for Late morning flight to Katmandu but with needing to drop off excess luggage, 3 hours at airport, delayed departure, extra 30 minutes circling in air before landing and getting visa and clearing customs despite only technically being a one and a half hour flight made it to the magnificent Yak and Yeti hotel 5km from airport for lunch at 4pm. We struggled to stay awake for the Buddhist monk's talk in an inspiring 100 year old room.Read more

Well rested for first full day. Boudhanath stupa an imposing landmark. Pashupatinath on banks Bagmati River. Which flows into Ganges River. UNESCO World Heritage site. Dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Flight over Everest

5am wake up call for 7am flight over Everest on Buddha Airlines. Everyone got a window seat. Got to go into cockpit and take a photo. An hour and a half in the air. Magnificent, magical and majestic.

Patan City known for arts especially bronze, silver and copper, and wooden carving architecture. Founded in 250AD. Temples destroyed in earthquake are being slowly rebuilt. Included a blessing from the Kumari (7 yo) and visit to Tibet healing bowls demonstration.Read more

Travel to Dhulikhel

On route visit Changu Narayan surrounded by champagne trees. Changu Narayan Temple in Pagoda style is dedicated to Vishnu. Is the oldest in Kathmandu Valley dating back to 4th century. A UNESCO world heritage site.
Walked around narrow lanes of Bhaktapur. Everywhere evidence of earthquake damage.Read more

Morning of bliss at Dwarika's Resort

Starting with sun rise, then yoga followed by breakfast on terrace with stunning views. Time in the Himalayan Salt House then the Crystal House. Meandered around the stunning grounds before resting by the infinity pool. Photos don't to justice to this amazing place.Read more
