Got up bright and early to visit Hiroshima and Miyajima Island. We arrived at our meeting point at 7:15 or so, and then were taken to another Shikansen - it’s honestly amazing that we can travel so far in only an hour and a half! At around 9 we arrived in Hiroshima and made our way to Miyajima Island.

The island was tiny and had almost as many deer as people! We got very lucky with the weather and were able to explore the town a bit and see the floating Torii Gates and even pet a deer!

After a couple hours we drove back into town to visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and Museum. It was an incredibly sobering experience to walk through the area where the bomb had detonated, and it was amazing to see the beautiful park that had been built on those ashes. It was an emotionally exhausting experience, but it’s something I think everyone should see - especially during our current political situation. Czytaj więcej
