  • 2 Hour private Taxi Tour Observatory

    2024年8月29日, 日本 ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

We had a great idea to get a local taxi and see some sights due to nothing available from ship.
On the way we crossed the Irabu-Ohashi bridge., the longest bridge in Japan, 3,540 m
The view from the observatory was amazing and the colour of the water was excellent, so clear and bright.
Paddle boarders were out enjoying the weather which was sunny and 32 degrees.
Have you make the most of every day.

    2024年8月29日, 日本 ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

This 200-meter-long natural beach is a famous spot for watching the sunset. Located in Yomitan Village, just next to Tomarigusuku Park with recreational equipment for kids, Toguchi Beach is always crowded with local families.
There is Jellyfish protection net at this beach do have to be careful.
The water is do crystal clear and the sand so soft, a great place to chill but take a beach umbrella as it’s very hot and not much protection.

  • Busan South Korea

    2024年8月31日, 韓国 ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Good morning Busan, what a welcome beautiful clear sky’s, awesome sunrise and no humidity, bonus.
Off to do our tour “best of Busan” .
This port is amazing, they have a campground right near outside the cruise terminal and when heading over the massive bridge there is another campground right on the water’s.

Busan, a large port city in South Korea, is known for its beaches, mountains and temples. Busy Haeundae Beach features the Sea Life Aquarium, plus a Folk Square with traditional games such as tug-of-war, while Gwangalli Beach has many bars and views of modern Diamond Bridge. Beomeosa Temple, a Buddhist shrine founded in 678 A.D., is at the base of Geumjeong Mountain, which has hiking trails.

  • Haedong Yonggungsa Temple

    2024年8月31日, 韓国 ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Haedong Yonggung Temple is a Buddhist temple in Gijang-gun, Busan, South Korea. The temple claims it was first built in 1376, although this claim has been disputed. The temple complex is a large one and one of few in Korea to be set on the seaside.

It had 106 steps down through a winding path with little tracks off to other areas with great views.
There is a set of steps at the back of the temple area that leads to a landing with spectacular views over the temple and ocean with the city in the distance.
The sloping path back the hill was an easier task.

  • APEC

    2024年8月31日, 韓国 ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

An unusual place to take tourists but our guide advised that she was told the itinerary from the boss through government agencies.

This place was where they had the 2005 APEC summit with all the member countries attended, what a gorgeous place the area was in a nice park to walk, go down to the rocks for fish and if you look closely you can see the lap pool down in the rocks, I will note in the photo.
The building doesn’t appear to be used anymore except for tourists visiting as it’s all still pristine.

  • Fish & International Markets

    2024年8月31日, 韓国 ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

The Jagalchi Fish Market in Busan is really something else. South Korea has octopi, baby sharks, giant rays, monster eels, freaky flat fish, and squirting sea slugs.

And there’s more. Have you heard about the Urechis unicinctus? It’s also known as the penis fish… (Don’t Google that one!).

If you’re visiting Busan, you should definitely visit the Jagalchi Market, even just for 30 minutes

The tour took us for lunch at Korean BBQ buffet for lunch and then off to the markets.
The amount of different species of seafood is amazing and all fresh daily, there are hundreds of shops inside the market building and also on the outside.

The international market place was ridiculously big with so many places similar but the language was hard to read, my translator did work well.

  • Sasebo

    2024年9月1日, 日本 ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Arrived early and had a massive delay with immigration getting off the ship, over 1 hour and getting to our tour 30 minutes late. Very lucky it was a ship organized tour.
Some the phots are from the same spot where the opening images of “the last Samurai “ were taken.

Sasebo is a city on Japan’s Kyushu Island. It's known for Huis Ten Bosch, an amusement park modeled after a Dutch town, with canals, replica buildings, windmills and flower gardens. Kujukushima Aquarium has dolphins, coral reefs and many jellyfish. Off the coast, boats cruise among the forested Kujukushima Islands, part of Saikai National Park. To the south, Saikai Bridge is a popular spot to view cherry blossoms.

    T
It used to be one of the largest ship building places in the world but now most are now built in China.

Sasebo can be reached by JR trains from Fukuoka and Nagasaki. From there, Hirado is about a 90 minute bus ride away.

U.S. Fleet Activities Sasebo is a United States Navy base, in Sasebo, Japan, on the island of Kyūshū. It provides facilities for the logistic support of forward-deployed units and visiting operating forces of the United States Pacific Fleet and designated tenant activities.

  • Shimizu

    2024年9月3日, 日本 ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

Arrived around 6:00am and got a photo of Mt Fuji in cloud but after lunch the clouds disappeared and she was an amazing sight for a very short time until the clouds and rain arrived to bid us farewell back to Tokyo, t was extremely windy here today which allowed this to happen apparently, according to the locals.

Shimizu is a town in Suntō District of Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. As of 1 August 2019, the town had an estimated population of 32,453 in 14058 households and a population density of 3,700 persons per km2. The total area of the town was 8.81 square kilometres.

Not a lot to do around the port area but a last little bit of shopping, I found some good Nike runners and acted pairs of good traveling shorts. 👍

The local market stalls were set up when we arrived and did a roaring business being our last port before getting off tomorrow, and everyone getting rid of their Yen 🇯🇵

A nice entertainment area around the waterfront for kids and many restaurants to choose from, a few parks and a large market area for weekends.
There were local sightseeing boats docked but not operating today.
Overall a great trip, heating back to Tokyo tonight to catch our flight home.
