    27 de junho de 2022, Austrália ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

If your short on time go to the visitors information Centre for the best things to do.
Great sightseeing day checking out the town and the Gallipoli and Armistice memorial, with the statue of the 1st soldier to set foot on the beach.
Queens park is a great place to relax and on Sundays they have a miniature train running though the park. There are also some musical instruments to test your skills (see Valerie).
Then off for a coffee and relax, then a trip to the war museum (biggest one outside of Canberra) amazing place, then of to a favorite of Valerie’s the Mary Poppins story bank.
Great day out experience the local area.

Unfortunately hasn’t stopped raining since last night so we are exploring as best we can and found this amazing cafe called George’s styled as a 1950’s diner at Conway beach, an absolute must when up this way.
We then to a place called The Landing at the end of Glen Island road Proserpine to spot the local crocodiles 🐊 unfortunately they didn’t show but it was a good adventure., see what tomorrow holds.

  • Innisfail Last stay before Cairns

    7 de julho de 2022, Austrália ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

We were booked into Etta Bay caravan park a beautiful little place on the beach where the cassowaries roam the park.
When then they gave us our site it was on the grass that was a total boggy area ant the last van and car had made it a total mess 6” deep mud holes so we decided not to stay and found a last minute spot in Innisfail at River Drive van park on the main road ( great amenities but not the best but had to make do).
Great dinner in the Crown hotel.
Badinda bakery for a coffee stop
Heading to cairns, sugars cane train tracks right along the side

The owners are great and so easy about everything.
We did the walking track up to the top of the hill overlooking the station site and then off to the water hole, billabong (2.5 klms) not a lot of water in it but still a nice place to visit.

    16 de julho de 2022, Austrália ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Last overnight stop before Katherine, vans lined up at 10:15am and park half full already.
Booked our beef and barra dinner tonight, great food and high quality.
I can’t believe how busy this is, if your not here by around 11-12 you won’t get a powers spot, if any.
We did the John Stuart heritage trail (only short) and read about his explorations in setting up a land communication lines across Australia and the rest of the world, very interesting read.
You have to get to happy hour at around 5:00 pm as the owner (we think) does a great talk about the area and the history of Daly Waters with his horse that walks through the bar.
Great night at the pub, music meeting people and having a few drinks, it’s like this every night apparently.
