Day 28 – Zurich: Circus, Cheese and Chinese Gardens
Saturday – Final day of Week Four
We woke at Harry and Sophie’s and, after some deliberation, decided to drive to Zurich. We arrived just in time for a fascinating walking tour of the Old Town—an hour and a half spent learning about the city’s evolution, its buildings, and the characters who shaped it.
Lunch was at Tibits, a vegetarian restaurant, before heading into the big top for the Knie Circus—a spectacular two-hour show filled with acrobats, musicians, singers, jugglers, clowns, visual artists, and even a troupe of horses. The clown in particular was hilarious, acting as a thread through the performance, and keeping the audience laughing throughout.
As we left, the rain gave way to sunshine again—perfect timing for a wander along the lake and through the Chinese Gardens. We rounded off the afternoon with a visit to what can only be described as a posh Swiss Waitrose, picking up supplies for dinner.
Sophie rustled up a delicious raclette—a table-top feast of grilled cheese over baby potatoes, with pickles, bacon, peppers, garlic and onions on the side. A proper Swiss treat. The day ended with a game of Spyfall. Gill was the spy three times, allegedly, and much laughter followed before we all collapsed into bed.
Another full, fun-packed day—exactly what we’ve come to expect from this unforgettable trip.Les mer
