The highest point in Siena contained the main cathedral and duomo.

Twice a year there is a crazy horse race run three times around this plaza to see which neighborhood (represented by a horse) will win the competition.

Montepulciano is one hour by train from Siena. It is high up on a hill with beautiful views of the surrounding Tuscan countryside. We will be here for two nights.

The next day we enjoyed breakfast at a lovely restaurant in Montepulciano. Then a driver picked us up with just our backpacks and drove us 10 miles to Pienza. Pienza is a beautiful old town high up onLeggi altro
Viaggiatore Yes. We were the only ones walking from Pienza to Montepulciano. We saw 4 other people on the trail all day. Two of them started at another town. And two were doing our hike backwards.

The rain stopped and we finished up our hike, arriving at Montepulciano at 2:15 pm.
