Landed in Seattle after a very long & boring flight. Walked into the hotel which looked great in the pictures but was somewhat less pretty in reality; we were too tired to really care! Walked around a very rainy Seattle which has lovely tree lined streets and is super modern. Had some Mexican food but neither of us could keep our eyes open.Read more

Exploring Seattle

Spent the day exploring the shady streets of Seattle. The space tower gave great views over the city but they insist on telling you it was only supposed to be there for 6 months which makes you feel somewhat nervous given that that was a long time ago. Walked around an art exhibit to make ourselves feel more cultured. Many sights seen, many snacks eaten.Read more

Picked up the van and drove about 4 hours to our first camp site on route to Yellowstone. Americans don’t know how to drive. 5 lane highways and they make sure they use all of em! No pics as was driving.Read more

Cruising through rural America

Seas of corn, hat rock, truckers and horses. Couldn’t fill up the van because we are stupid tourists. Found a nice campsite and ate dinner over an open fire.

Rural Oregon & western Idaho

Woke up early and were on the road by 5AM! Damned jet-lag. The mountains of Oregon are incredible and Idaho has…. Nothing! There was a stretch of road we drove on with not even a single bend for 50 miles. Arrived at Craters of the Moon national park which is a big old volcanic sight; very bizarre.Read more

From the Moon to Montana

Woke up to a beautiful sunrise in the hills of Idaho, had our breakfast and walked the perimeter of Craters Of the Moon; a 2,500 year old lava field. Set off driving through beautiful, bleak, nothingness toward Yellowstone. 2 minutes after passing the “Welcome to Montana” sign an elk ran across the road and I almost hit it. West Yellerstone 🇺🇸

- 6 C this morning which was a bit of a cool awakening…Walked over to the Bear and Wolf Discovery Centre to see the captive rescues; they had eagles, wolves, bears, otters and owls, all of which were rescued from some encounter with humans. The town is very touristy and only sold T-shirts and rocks. Went for an afternoon drive to a lake. Read my book and Lucy napped with a great view.Read more

Drove deep into the wilderness…. Into the most tourist infested place we’ve been yet. Incredible landscapes and epic geysers that really reminded you that you are stood on a giant super volcano that is overdue an eruption!Read more

Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and bison

Quite a long driving day, drove the Grand Loop and saw Yellowstone’s Grand Canyon, mammoth hot springs and lots of bison! Weather was a bit off but the incredible landscapes make up for it.
