    Ibis Geneva Airport

    We git to our "new" hotel shortly after 2:00 pm.
    Very nice clean place not far from the airport (Laurie claimed she was OK, so we walked there), and they do have a free airport shuttle running, so we'll utilize it tomorrow morning

    The hotel we originally booked for the 19th refused to work with us even as we explained that this was an emergency
    I can entertain anyone who is interested in all the details, but for now, suffice to say that I will never (nor do I suggest for anyone to) stay in B&B HOTEL Geneva Airport!!!

    Ok off my soap box...

    The weather is still holding on, so given that (GET THIS!!!) The Geneva Beureau of Tourism presented us with unlimited passes for all types of public transportation we will gust grab our jackets and take the risk to go into town

    We ride the trolley to the final stop - Rive - and get off pretty close to the waterfront

    We'll cut through Jardin d'Anglais past the monument to Gustave Ador - a Swiss Politician and a president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (1910-1928) and the via Quai bearing his name to a Geneva landmark- Jet d'Eau de Genève

    You can also spot Phare des Pâquis - a listed monument, remarkable for its emblematic architecture and picturesque location.
    Current building replaced the first lighthouse in 1894 shortly before the Swiss National Exhibition of 1896 in Geneva. The lighthouse marks the entry to sGeneva Habour from the Rhone

    Actually, on pictures in 2nd row, you also should be able to spot Phare des Eaux-Vives - a small lighthouse to the right of Phare des Paquis:

    Dinner at Creperie du Mallard

    A further walk through Jardin, and now we begin to see the clouds gathering from the Alps' side.

    Glancing over into one of the side streets, we spot Crêperie du Molard. It appeals to me because the tables are all under big umbrellas, and the street is on the thin side

    We enjoy a beer (L) and Genache (YT) and have an outstanding meal while being entertained by some street musicians

    In a short time, the thunderstorms are indeed upon us, but we stayed until everything sort of quieted down.

    The nearest trolley stop was only 4 minutes away, and we returned back to the hotel with "mission accomplished "

    We call it a night since tomorrow's boots and saddles will sound at 4:00 am    Lue lisää
