Lake Ballard - Inside Australia

In 2003, the famous British sculptor installed the Inside Australia work in remote Lake Ballard, 2 hours north of Kalgoorlie, as part of the Perth International Arts Festival. It consists of 51 metal figures widely spaced in the dead flat, salt encrusted base of the lake. The landscape and figures are dramatic. And its success had lead it to be retained to this day.

The stylised figures are like distorted spindly ghosts even when close up, matching their appearance as they vanish into the distant mirage haze. Czytaj więcej
