Long flight with little sleep and I know now it really is worth all that extra money for a flat bed seat. Perhaps even more so for a short trip when you want to hit the ground running. Here is the view from my window and quintissentially syburban England.

Looking forward to some girl time before we head out to Norfolk this afternoon.

Stayed right on the River Yare in a lovely cottage from which we daytripped. We took a cruise through the river/lake system known as The Broads where we saw not only wetland birds but wonderful old Wherry Yachts (some under sail) and learnt about the local area. Other highlights include the remains of a medieval priory and Framlingham Castle where Mary Tudor was first proclaimed Queen.Leia mais

Today I have seen some amazing documents. A first edition of Robinson Crusoe from 1719, original notes by Shakespeare, design sketches by Michelangelo and hand written scores by Bach, Handel, Mozart and Beethoven to name but a few. I reminded of "if it ain't broke.........."Leia mais

The sleeper train was comfy and I arrived here mid morning. After a hour or so in the local museum I took a boat ride on the loch. This gave us the best views if Ben Nevis. We saw lots of birdlife and seals and the commentary taught us about the local environment and the history of the landscape.Leia mais

Delightful day on a beautiful train with a boat trip in the middle for good measure. Without a window seat pics from the train were tricky and I was too captivated by the minkhi whale to look for the camera but the views were amazing. Last pic is the Isle of Skye.Leia mais

I gotta say it, Oxford is prettier. We didn't time it very well as most of the colleges were closed for graduation ceremonies. It also meant that the town was exceptionally crowded. However, Kings Chapel was open and we saw several processions if students and fellows all frocked up. Not many pics.Leia mais
