Sailing season 3 in 2025

We made another weather-driven decision on our anchor place. We tried the furthest point in the bay, but the wind and swell would make for an uncomfortable night, so we have come to our current spot, under the cliff just outside the harbour at Pylos.
Yesterday was a day to wander around the town and shop. Its a small town and not massively touristy in the morning. In the afternoon, I suggested we go to the beach, so Gary got the tender down and then revved the poor engine to take us to the island in the middle of the bay where there is a monument to the British for assisting the Greeks in the battle of Navarino in 1827 in the war of independence against the Ottoman empire and the Eyptians.
The took three times longer to get there than see the monument and that is only because we met another British couple there who were crazier than us, and had paddle board there from their hotel just outside Pylos.
Any way we had dinner ashore as our friends Nick and Lou arrived to finish the day off in a fun way.
Today we wouldn't dare leave the boat, let alone visit the island. I had a rude awakening this morning at about 7 to say I was needed as we needed to reset. I had heard the anchor alarm go off but it stop and hoped the problem had gone away but no. So we have reset and sitting out 25 - 30 knot gusts, waiting for it to subside so we can go ashore for a walk.
The bay is beautiful and much bigger than I imagined, with interesting cliffs and rocks at the entrance of the bay.Baca selengkapnya
