The Crossing

Had dinner at Mana on our way to Wellington - a nice chicken salad Karin had prepared the night before. Dropped Pam and David at the ferry terminal so they could walk to their hotel (not far) and we headed round to Evans Bay for v the night. Early start on Thursday morning but the ferry was running half an hour late.
Pleasant crossing with a cooked breakfast on the way. The Interislander caught up and passed us just before the entrance to Tory Channel. I haven't seen that before - passed going in opposite directions but never side by side.Read more

Blenheim

We're staying at a POP with power for Pam and Dave's first night. Reta Tuckermans on the eastern side of Blenheim. The handover took two hours and it was a lot to take in. The motorhome was beautifully presented and everything appears to be in good condition. Had a couple of wines after the neighbours had got settled then had a BBQ dinner together.

St.Arnaud

Lunch break at Lake Rotoiti. This morning we learnt how to use the dump station and Pam and David bought some equipment they needed for the motorhome. David was last here when he was a student and Pam has never been here.
David drove his motorhome from Blenheim to St.Arnaud then Pam took over and drive to Wakefield.Read more

Spent the evening enjoying a BBQ with Sandy and her family at Wakefield (about half an hour out of Nelson). Good people - met Wade's children Cleveland and Indie. We're staying the night on their property overlooking the valley.Read more

Koromiko

Left the Fallen estate mid morning to travel back to St.Arnaud and Lake Rotoiti. Had a wander about checking the sights and looking at the DOC camp at Kerr Bay. Next time we're down this way we'll stay a few days and bring the boat. The guy from the water taxi was saying there's a stunning waterfall at the end of the lake.
After lunch we headed back to Blenheim for a walk in Pollard Park before moving on to the POP at Koromiko, a BBQ dinner and a bottle or two of wine.Read more

Headed for Home

Short but sweet - we'd rather not be headed home yet but our weekend is over. We've had a wander around Picton this morning, taken the vans to the dump station then off to the ferry. It was straight through the check in booth, into the lane and pretty much straight onto the boat. I only had time to turn off the gas before the line was moving. For a minute there I thought they were going to put us on the upper deck like they did last time. Pam and David took their own vehicle - no sweat. Pam thought we were going to be put on the upper deck too but she had the right idea - wait at the bottom of the ramp until you have a clear landing space at the top.
